What I would like to address: -Any work influenced by Frida Kahlo. -what was her family dynamic? Does she have any kids? Did they influence any of her work? -She does not identify as a surrealist, so then what does she identify as? Her artwork challenged the social norms at the time, that women had to be at home, but she did not identify herself as a feminist.

Family Background - She had a short lived marriage and became a single mother at a very young age. Izquierdo has three children, two boys and a girl. It is said that her daughter has influenced some of Izquierdo's work like "Ninas Durmiendo". Izquierdo and her family moved to Mexico City where she was able to go to school to study art. There she met her mentors Diego Rivera and Rufino Tamoya, which was also said to be her lover. [1]. Izquierdo had a second marriage with a Chilean painter, Raul Uribe; unfortunately, this was also short lived.[2]

Influences - Both Frida Kahlo and Izquierdo have been claimed as Feminist artists. Izquierdo, however, did not see herself that way. Her art would challenge the social norms of what it meant to be a woman during the time of Kahlo and Izquierdo's reign. [3] She would paint women doing stuff outside of the norms; however, most self portraits had her doing household chores.

Style - Izquierdo does not identify herself as a surrealist. At the beginning she would paint still life and portraits. She experimented with many different styles and techniques; such as, oil painting, watercolor, still life, and landscape. [4] She also like died in side doing work but never regretted leaving her husband because he was a scumbag to todays standards.
