Nuria is currently residing and working in Cairo, Egypt.
Early life and education
[edit]Nuria was born to an Armenian family in the city of Abovyan in the Armenian USSR in 1970. She spent her early years in Abovyan, but after graduating from high school got admitted and later graduated from the medical college of Yerevan. She had a brief career as a nurse, that lasted only 11 months. Nuria Telpian’s grandmother played a big role in her life. She was Nuria’s first inspiration. At the age of 5, Nuria knitted her first two-colored hoodie jacket. That’s when she fell in love with fashion and clothing.[1]
Early career
[edit]Nuria’s passion for fashion and clothing came from early childhood. In some of her interviews, she said that at the age of 14 she used to sew clothes for herself and her friends using all sorts of bright colors and details that could be found at the time. She recalls that sometimes she could indulge in the process so much that could spend sleepless night sewing, knitting and creating new designs. She claims this habit stayed up until now. She pities the time that should be spent for sleep, instead, she prefers to spend it on finishing the design and seeing the final result.[2]
Professional career
[edit]Nuria Telpian’s first fashion show took place in Yerevan in 2007. All dresses were exclusive, elegant and extravagant at the same time decorated with thousands of Swarovski crystals. The heaviest dress weighed 12 kg.[3] The amazing feedback from critiques encouraged Nuria to take her art to an international level.
Signature Style
[edit]Nuria Telpian’s signature style is thoroughly designed and crafted details. Handcrafted drapery, mixed dantels, bright colors, all sorts of fabric can define Nuria’s dresses. Another token of Nuria is Swarovski crystals of diverse grinding, colors and effects. Nuria’s designs are inspired by eastern cultures and the Armenian spirit. Flowers and magic of nature are an inseparable part of her dresses. She mentions that her main inspiration comes from mother nature and especially marine.[4] She thinks that fashion is the depiction of nature. Even though bright colors are typical to Nuria Telpian’s designs, she thinks that all colors are always trendy. Some colors become trendier for a specific year because they are showcased by celebrities, but not a single color gets old or dull ever.[5] Nuria Telpian’s motto is to dress women so that everyone sees them glowing. Women should feel confident and comfortable regardless of the dress type, whether it’s business, cocktail, evening or soiree.
