Motivation is that multiple patients have composed wikipedia articles using Dr. Marchand's CV, which is easily available online. Institute's position that any extremely notable surgeon, inventor, patent holder, expert witness and Guinness world record holder, a short english wikipedia page is desirable to differentiate the surgeon from the french chef of the same name who holds a page on french wikipedia. While we encourage enthusiastic grateful patients, the result has been a disadvantage for the institute.

Discussion of GNG: Appears on Today show and Inside edition, not as promoted subject but as expert opinion. Prior to appearances on Today Show and Inside Edition - national coverage of world records discussed, on wikipedia page:

Rational for requesting creation of page known to be difficult to maintain secondary to massive interest / Requesting Protected Status:

Patients of Marchand / Marchand Institute: Please kindly do not edit this page without the permission of a wikipedia administrator. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit, the institute would like to ask all patients to consider making contributions elsewhere on the web, i.e. rating sites, yelp, etc. etc. Although the institute appreciates all of your kind sentiments, re-attempts at posting pages for Marchand and the Institute have resulted in the permanent deletion and prevention of creation of all articles related to many spellings of Dr. Marchand's name, as well blocking of all IP addresses from the free patient internet in the Institute Waiting room from even accessing wikipedia. The heart of the matter is that the wikipedia pages composed for Dr. Marchand have been lengthy biographies which would require the notability of a president or movie star to justify.
