Liu Cixin's impact
Liu Cixin is one of the most prominent modern writers in China and in the literature world in general. Although there is a vast amount of knowledge about his works, it is important to come to an understanding of how much his works have impacted the world's literature. The film and Tv adaptations of Liu Cixin's works have had a tremendous impact on China's science fiction in the film industry. "The Three-Body-Problem" film and Tv series by Liu Cixin have not only caused intense debates and discussions in China but they have obtained worldwide recognition for its positive results. This made it possible for Chinese science fiction films to gain the attention they deserve. Furthermore, because of how much work was contributed in the process of creation Liu Cixin's works, advancements in visual affects and production systems were implemented in not only those works but can now be used for other Chinese science fiction films or shows. Therefore it can be said that the creation of his works have been the milestone for some of China's science fiction works and the ones that are yet to come in the future.
Liu Cixin's influence
Most people who are interested in Liu Cixin know that he was mainly influenced by Jules Verne and H.G Wells, but it is also important to know about other influences that helped him become the writer he is today. Liu Cixin expressed that he separates these influencial writers in two categories, "mainstream, canonical writers and science-fiction writers" , in an interview with John Platz and Pu Wang[1] His biggest influence on the first category was Golden Age Russian Literature, specifically Tolstoy. During middle school and high school, a vast variety of Western, European, and Russian works were introduced into China and translated into Chinese. His access to Russian works, and as he expressed, his personality, made it possible for him to have such fascination for Russian literature. On the other hand, in the category of "non-writers " who deeply affected him, Stanley Kubrick is at the top of the chart. Being his favorite filmmaker, many of his works have had a big influence on him, specially "2001: A Space Odyssey".
