Manú Ramírez was born in Guatemala City, son of a great and famous pianist/composer -Emilio Ramirez Garcia- He studied music for a brief period at the Guatemalan National Conservatory of Music.
Manú was the original founder and drummer of "PLÁSTICO PESADO" or "HEAVY PLASTIC" (first original rock Guatemalan band). This band evolved later into a more experimental original group called “QUETZALUMAN".
Manú was later recruited to play drums in "PROPHECY" a band in the San Francisco bay area in California, where he lived for a number of years and play with different jazz and rock bands, some of this bands shared the stage with famous groups including the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Manú also played bass for Blue Grass/Country western legend Pete Seeger.
After living in California he found himself moving to Ireland where he started the "Latin Scene" as well the Techno-Fusion in Cork in the late 80's. Manú is the founder and leader of RUMBA CASINO/LATINO HOUSE, a group which is a truly exponent of his latin roots and has proved to be one of the most original, traditional and innovative Latin bands in Ireland.
