Carole Frances-Lung

Carole Frances-Lung (born in 1966, in San Francisco, California) is an artist, archivist and biographer of Frau Fiber, and professor of Fashion and Materials, at California State University, Los Angeles (2009-present).[1] Lung schemed and created plans for Institute of Labor and Uniform (ILGWU). In 2008 Lung had her first solo exhibition, KO Enterprises: Labor Behind the label, UIC- Gallery 400, social sculpture in Chicago, IL. Later in 2019, Lung is awarded "United States Artists Fellow."[2]

Education

In 1988, Lung received her bachelor of Science, Textiles and Clothing in North Dakota State University, Fargo ND. In 2006, Lung studied Public Art/ New Artistic Strategies in Bauhaus University, Weimar Germany. In 2005, Lung received her BFA, and in 2007 she received her MFA, Fiber and Material Studies from the same school, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. [3]

Career

Lung is currently working as an executive director in New Orleans, LA. Her previous work was in Lancaster Museum of Art as Education Programing in Lancaster PA from 2001 to 2004.[4]

From 2016 to 2018, radio stations broadcast about labor and protests consisting of ballads and songs, the condition of the American working class, factory tours, etc.[6]

From 2006 to 2019, Sewing Rebellion, a national monthly meeting hosted by Faux Frau's in partnership with community organizations, public libraries, LGBTQAI centers, and art spaces begins at Mess Hall in Chicago. The main focus on producing instructional videos and technology packages to support social justice movements. To support becoming global citizens who mend, sew, and make. [7]

From 2013 to present, Institute 4 Labor Generosity Workers & Uniforms, explodes the creation behind fast fashion provide series label. ILGWU North is set in the Fashion program of Art at California State University, Los Angeles.

Awards

Lung has had multiple acknowledgments in her life so far. In 2007, she received her first award, Fred A . Hillbruner Artist Book Fellowship, SAIC in Chicago, IL.[8] With in the same year, Lung received her second award, At the Edge Award, Gallery 400 in Chicago, IL. In recent year, 2019, she had awarded to the United States Artists Fellow.[9]
