Established on the 23rd of February 2014, The World Patriarchal Maronite Foundation for Integral Development (WPF), as a pious independent institution subject to the Ecclesiastic Laws related to the temporal funds of the Church and religious waqef and pursuant to Canon No. 1047, Article 1, Clause 1, of the Code of Canon Laws of the Eastern Churches.

Mission and Objectives

[edit]

The foundation's mission is “To consolidate and strengthen the Christian presence in Lebanon, ensuring that the country remain the land of our roots, our sense of belonging and our future; and that it prevails as an ideal of tolerance, love and fellowship between all cultures, faiths and communities. The foundation main objectives for intervention fall on:

  • Support His Beatitude the Maronite Patriarch in promoting and preserving an active and dynamic Christian presence, culture and identity in Lebanon.
  • Harness and utilize the human potential of Lebanese Christians and Maronites within Lebanon and abroad, in the economic, social, cultural, and political spheres and to encourage them to participate more actively in the foundation's assistance programs.
  • Cooperate with Christian institutions to achieve our common goals, in providing the support for the Patriarchate and its developmental and charitable activities.

To realize its vision and objectives, the Foundation has designed its Programs to operate following two main strategic pillars:

1. Establish a process of steady funding

[edit]

The foundation will establish a continual funding stream that ensures regular financing resources through donations, gifts, or pledges. The funds will support the programs of the foundation itself, or those promulgated by other active Christian institutions whose objectives align with those of the foundation.

2. Setting up priorities for execution

[edit]

The foundation will establish partnerships with accredited and effective Christian institutions in support to the Christian presence in remote areas (villages and localities in remote and mixed areas). The main focus in for institutions and programs that contribute to creating job opportunities for the Christian youth in the private and public sector.

Foundation's Programs

[edit]

The Community Employment Program

[edit]

The Community Employment Program (CEP) is established with the main goal to secure private sector employment for Maronite and Christian Lebanese eligible for Work. The scope of the CEP revolves over major principles:

  • Identifying job-seekers and providing assistance through one-to-one coaching sessions, career guidance and follow-up;
  • Identifying private-sector employers through networking and partnerships;
  • Connecting job-seekers to matching available job opportunities that correspond to their profile, needs and requirements and prepare them throughout the recruitment process.

The Public Jobs Preparation Program

[edit]

WPF, in Partnership with the Notre Dame University-Louaize, established the Public Job Preparation Program (PPP) to support and encourage Lebanese Maronites and Christians to seek employment within the Public Sector. They do so by recruiting and training potential candidates for employment depending on vacant positions within the government. The program aims to ensure the candidate passes the exams of the Civil Service Council.

The Care Assistant Program

[edit]

The Care Assistant Program (CAP) is designed to meet the Market demand for assistant nurses. In this regard, WPF has established a partnership with Hôtel Dieu de France (HDF - Centre Hospitalier de l'Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth) to create a training program that is able to recruit the candidates it needs while meeting the selection criteria. The CAP program will start in November 2017 and will provide hands-on training for selected candidates in need to learn new skills.
