Mallory A. Melton is a Ph.D. Candidate in Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is an anthropological archaeologist whose research uses plant remains to examine the interplay between major sociopolitical transformations (e.g., culture contact, urbanization, emergence of complexity) and daily life for past inhabitants of many parts of the New World. Her primary research areas include Mesoamerica (Pacific Coast of Guatemala), North America (Southeast, Midwest, Western), and South America (Peruvian Andes).
