HISTORY OF MAVALOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
At the beginning there were two Catun classes held at the houses of the spouses Mr. Vitaliano and Mrs. Felomina Mercado Bagsic and Mr. Pedro and Mrs. Demetria Bagsic Politado. Each class consisted of 15 pupils. Mr. Mariano Abol and Maestrong Kulas taught the Catun classes.
In 1927 formal Grade I classes were opened upon the completion of the school building. Mr. Lauro Baja and Mrs. Letecia Liboon was the first teacher from Batangas.Many pupils flocked from the nearby barrios of Cahigam and Bulihan since this was the first school in the locality. The pioneers felt in love with each other and they were married. After a year another teacher came in the p3ew4rson of Miss Conching Lualhati who then became Mrs. Lorenzo Macatangay. Miss Josefa Macatangay was assigned so there were four single grade classes,Grade I to IV. The following teachers succeeded the first teachers. Mrs. Teodora Veyra, Mrs Felomina G. Reyes, Mrs.Bonifacio Marasigan, Miss Dorotea Perez and Miss Rosario Noche. During the school year 1952-1953 Grade Five class was opened through the joint effort of the community and the teaching staff. Mr. Pablo M.Clarete became the first school head. The staff was composed of Mrs. Soledad V. Clarete. Miss Rosario Noche,Miss Julia Belen. Mr. Ricardo Lauron,Miss Leoncia Abutal and Mr. Conrado T. Reyes. Miss Nena U.Veyra was assigned as substitute teacher. The school year 1953-54 was very memorable since it marked the first commencement exercise; Mr. Conrado Reyes was the first class adviser. An additional lot was purchased to meet the requirement, the former lot was donated by the late Angel Wagan and Family with the total land area of 6,115.70 sg.m and the additional lot with a total of 3,213.25 sq.m was being used as rice field. Mr. Pablo M. Clarete was succeeded by Mr. Emilio Panganiban. His staff was composed of Mrs. Matilde Agbay, Mrs. Leoncia Lauron Miss Maxima Cornilla, Mr. Ricardo Lauron, Mr. Cesar Katigbak and Mrs. Lolita Carino. Mr. Roman Zuno succeeded Mr. Emilio Panganiban. His staff was composed of the same teachers except Mrs. Cornilla who was assigned to Timbugan Elem.School Miss Adelaida Mindanao took her place. Mr.Benigno Gozos followed Mr. Roman Zuno. His staff was composed of Mrs. Feliza Coloma, Mrs. Matilde P.Agbay,Miss Mameng Macalintal and Miss Teresita Sianquita. Later on these teachers wre transferred to other schools giving way to new teachers. Miss Rosalinda Catillo for Grade I,Miss Antonia C. Agno for Grade II,Miss Juana Casas and Miss Adela A.Cabanig for Grade III, Miss Belen Biscocho for Grade IV.Miss Mameng Macalintal for Grade V and Miss Ester Closa for Grade VI. Mr.Benigno M. Gozos was promoted to Principal and he was transferred to Mayuro Elem. School,Mr. Conrado T. Reyes took his place ac TIC. Due to the re-organization of the division, Mr. Conrado Reyes was assigned as administrative officer in Tanauan which became the Division II of Batangas Province. Mr. Manalo was the Division Superintendent. Mrs.Antonina A. Virtucio replaced Mr. Reyes. She became the Head Teacher with an item created in the municipal school board. Her staff was composed of Miss Rosalinda R. Catilo,Miss Elena C. Agno, Mrs. Adela C.Quizon,Miss Belen Biscocho, Miss Fed Trivino and Mrs. Magdalena A.Reyes. Another batch of teacher came in when the former teachers were transferred. They were Mrs. Justa Mustasa, Miss Teresita Flores, Mrs. Lucina Perez, Mrs. Natividad Manigbas and Mrs. Liwayway W.Bagsic. Miss Angeles V. Care was assigned Head Teacher of the school when Mrs. Virtucio was promoted as School Principal of Bulihan Elem. School. Miss Care resigned and went abroad. Mrs. Adela C.Quizon was assigned OIC. Mrs. Elena O. Casao became the Head Teacher of the school since Mrs. Quizon requested for a transfer in Masaya Elem. School, Mrs. Milagros C. Wagan replaced Mrs.Adela C. Quizon as Grade III teacher. Mr. Josue M.Barcelos succeeded Mrs. Elena O. Casao .His staff was composed of Miss Necita Alzate,Miss Lucina Perez,Mr. Milagros C. Wagan,Mrs. Justa Mustasa,Mrs. Liwayway Bagsic and Miss Marilou Benedicto. It was during his term when comfort rooms for all classrooms were constructed. Mr. Romualdo C. Lucero succeeded Mr. Josue Barcelos when the latter was transferred to Masaya Elem. School as School Principal. His staff was composed of Mrs.Necita Alzate, Miss Florencia M. Masalunga, Mrs. Lucina Perez, Miss Priscila Capila, Mrs. Liwayway Bagsic, Mrs. Milagros C. Wagan, and Mr. Rolando R. Marasigan.Miss Lilian Evangelio replaced Mrs. Bagsic when she retired. Mrs. Perla L. Conti succeeded Mr. Lucero when he was transferred to Timbugan Elem. School as School Principal. Her staff was composed og Mrs. Necita Alzate, Miss Florencia Masalunga, Mrs.Lucina Perez who was replaced by Miss Exequila D.Castillo upon her retirement. Mrs. Milagros C. Wagan, Miss Priscila Capila who was replaced by Mrs. Antonina Virtucio when she was transferred to Timbugan Elem.School , Miss Maria Teresa Amada who was replaced by Miss Elizabeth Rosita when she was transferred to Rosario West Central School and Mr. Rolando Marasigan. During her term additional buildings were constructed and old buildings were renovated. Fences around the school grounds were completed. All buildings were painted. The flooring of the office was made tiles. The kindergarten room was renovated by means of the fund obtained from beauty contest and personal donations from civic-minded people. The school won 2nd place in the Guidance Evaluation, won 1st place in the District Search for Outstanding Science Park on October 18,2005,1st place in Cluster IV evaluation of the Most Effective and Functional English Garden on September 26,2005.3rd place in the District Search For Outstanding School KKK Implementor on August 23-31,1999 and was granted Knowledge Channel on September 16,2005. Mr. Rolando R. Marasigan was assigned OIC when Mrs. Perla L. Conti was promoted as School Principal and was transferred to Timbugan Elem. School. The same staff remained. Due to misunderstanding in Timbugan Elem. School, Mrs. Conti was reassigned to Mavalor Elem.School, Mr. Marasigan back to classroom teacher handling Grade VI again. Mrs. Jeanne M. Magcheco replaced Mrs. E D. Castillo upon her transferred to Batangas City, Mrs. Virtucio retired and Miss Jacquiline Trivino replaced her. But after two years of staying in Mavalor Elem. School an unexpected incident happened .This led to the passage of the resolution of the barangay and PTCA officers petitioning the School Principal to seek transfer to another post for ten (10) kinds of complains against her. The parents did not allow their children to go to school until the case was solved. The case was forwarded to the district, division and up to the national level. There was even the RPN 9 and media coverage regarding the case during the meetings of parents with the district and division personnel held in the school. It lasted for the whole month of June. This caused the decrease of enrolment of the school and deployment of teachers to other schools. All school records, equipments and materials such as sound system, sewing machine and floor tiles were confiscated by the outgoing principal for the reason that the school owed her certain amount. The case also caused interruption of classes which need make-up classes to complete the prescribed total number of days for the school year to the sufferings and great sacrifices of the teachers as well as the incoming school principal, pupils, parents and other community people. In the SREAT for the month of June only 3 pupils were reported with 3 teachers. This incident made Mavalor Elementary School sensational. Mrs. Belen E. Reyes, a Master Teacher and Teacher In-Charge of Tilaga Elementary School, Barangay Tulos Rosario Batangas took the courage to succeed Mrs. Perla L. Conti, She was promoted Elementary School Principal upon attending and completing the NEAP-BSMC (Basic School Management Course) in Baquio City and her assignment is the controversial school. Thanks God her nice and kind approach was most welcomed by the pupils, parents, barangay and PTCA officials and the whole community. Her staff is composed of Mrs. Rhona M.Castillo from Brgy Bulihan as Pre Elem Teacher, Miss Margie V. Mangurali (from Barangay Cawongan,Padre Garcia),Grade-I, Mrs. Jacquiline T. Marasigan, Grade-II, Mrs. Milagros C. Wagan,Grade-III, Miss Maricel L. Franco ( from Barangay Pansol Padre Garcia), Grade-IV, Mrs. Jeanne M.Magcheco ( from Brgy. Bulihan), Grade- V and Mr. Rolando R. Marasigan, Grade –VI. That was July 7, 2007 when Mrs. Belen Reyes took her office and given her S.O as ESP-1. The school earned a very wholesome relationship with the community. She won the support of the understanding, beauteous and gorgeous District Supervisor Mrs. Rosalia R. De Chavez and the School Division Superintendent Mrs. Emma A. Bautista. Within three months the new principal has completed several projects like rocket pump (artesian well), concrete pathways with benches and roofing leading to Kinder and Grade I room with the support of the community. The fund came from the School Board, the Barangay IRA intended for the school and SK Fund. In spite of the delayed classes the pupils participated actively in the school, district, area contest and luckily they got 1st place in Science District Level and 3rd Place in the Division Level. Other contestants obtained higher places in some other contests. A new School Paper entitled “THE BELL” had published its virgin issue. As to the Kinder classes in this school which was started 1984, Mrs. Antonina A. Virtucio, former Head Teacher acting as the first teacher, followed by Mr. Ponciano Q. Perez succeeded by Mrs. Lucina A.Heneroso who was succeeded also by Miss Josephine Roallos when she went to Spain. Miss Roallos was given an item as Teacher-I and Miss Nena Bagsic succeeded her. Mrs. Bagsic stop teaching and Miss Juanita Balitaan succeeded her and when Mrs. Balitaan was transferred to Alupay Elem. School Mrs. Antonina A. Virtucio taught again the kinder pupils up to March of 2007 and replaced by Mrs. Rhona Castillo from July 2007 to December 31, 2009.January 2010 when Mrs. Castillo planned to go abroad and her position was replaced by Mrs. Michelle Buenafe a newly LET passers till September 13,2010 and when Mrs.Buenafe given a National Item and assigned in Maalas-as ES she replaced by Mrs. Vilma P. Arnaez BSEED Graduate ,the present Kinder Teacher with an enrolment of 32. Mavalor ES shine its continues improvement since 2007 to present under the management of Mrs. Belen Reyes with her staff , Mrs. Vilma P.Arnaez, Miss Priscilla Marasigan, Mrs. Jacquiline Marasigan, Mrs. Milagros Wagan, Mrs. Maricel Franco-Mangubat, Mrs. Margie Mangurali-Braza, Mr. Rolando R. Marasigan, Mrs. Imelda C. Balmes, Mrs. Irene P. Virtucio, Mrs. Ma. Lina Sangrador the PSB Item Teacher and Miss Noreen Briguela the Day Care Teacher started her service this June of 2011. Major Accomplishments were noted during her time, it is a collaborative effort of all school personnel and the ever supportive stake holders. Some of them are: 1.
