Oxley Vale Attunga Mushies Football Club is an Australian amateur football (Soccer) club based in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia. The Club has teams entered in both the local Tamworth & District Football Association Competition and the Northern Inland Football New England Mutual Premier League and has over 270 players currently registered in these Competitions.

History

Originally formed in 1984 the football team was based in Attunga, a small town approximately 20 kilometres from Tamworth.

Club Colours

Oxley Vale Attunga play in a two distinct playing strips. The Junior teams play in predominately Maroon with Black. The Senior Squads play in predominantly Red with White, with the New England Mutual Premier League Squad’s alternate strip being predominately White with Red.

Home Ground

Oxley Vale Attunga play at the Gipps Street Sporting Fields located in Gipps Street Tamworth, parallel to Goonoo Goonoo Rd. Tamworth Football was moved to these sporting fields in 2010 after being previously based at Federation Park in Jewry Street.

Current Season

The 2010 Premier League Season had ten teams competing for the New England Credit Union Premier League Title.

At the end of Round 9, Oxley Vale Attunga is in a strong position to repeat the successes they have had in the past 3 years. The First Grade squad is in second place on 19 points coming from 6 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. The First Grade Squad have a goal difference of +13 (30 for, 17 against). They have a deferred game still to be played. The Reserve Grade squad is in second place on 22 points coming from 7 wins, 1 draw and 0 losses. The Reserve Grade Squad have a goal difference of +25 (33 for, 8 against).They have a deferred game still to be played.

2010 Northern New South Wales Football Solo State Cup

The Oxley Vale Attunga Mushies have entered into the 2010 Northern New South Wales Football (NNWF) State Cup Competition. The NNSWF State Cup competition is open to all mens NNSWF Premier Competition Clubs and Senior Zone Member Clubs. The NNSWF State Cup is conducted on a straight knockout basis.

Teams are divided into two pools for the Preliminary Stages of the Competition. These two pools are:

1. Northern Pool: Club teams from Mid North Coast Football, North Coast Football, Northern Inland Football and Football Far North Coast will be pooled together for Round One of the competition. Round One of the competition will see teams from each zone versing teams from another zone. The winners from Round One will then compete against clubs from within their own zone. The winning club from each of the four zones will then progress to the Quarter Final stage.

2. Southern Pool: Club teams from Newcastle Football, Macquarie Football, Hunter Valley Football and the NNSWF Premier Competitions will be pooled with clubs from within the zone in which their club resides. The winning club from each of the three zones together with a lucky loser from the final round of the group stage shall progress to the Quarter Final stage.

The Oxley Vale Attunga Mushies are in the Northern Pool. In Round 1, the Mushies defeated Kempsey Saints F.C. 2-1. In Round 2, the Mushies were again victorious in defeating Sawtell F.C. 2-1. In Round 3, the Mushies were defeated by Coffs City United F.C. 2-1, but advanced to the Quarter Finals of the State Cup to be played in Coffs Harbour on 10th/11th July, 2010 as the ‘Lucky Loser’. The Mushies are drawn to play Toronto Awaba Stags FC in the Quarter Finals.

2009

The 2009 Premier League Season had nine teams competing for the New England Credit Union Premier League Title.

The 2009 season was a season to remember for the Oxley Vale Attunga Mushies with both First and Reserve Grade qualifying for the finals series as undefeated Minor Premiers, and becoming the New England Credit Union Premier League Champions.

First Grade finished the home and away season in 1st position with a total of 47 points, these coming from 15 wins, 1 draw and 0 losses. The First Grade Squad had a goal difference of +26 (46 for, 18 against).

Reserve Grade finished the home and away season in 1st position with a total of 44 points, these coming from 14 wins, 2 draws and 0 losses. The Reserve Grade Squad had a goal difference of +38 (52 for, 14 against).

2008

The 2008 Premier League Season had six teams competing for the New England Credit Union Premier League Title.

The 2008 season was another very successful season for the Oxley Vale Attunga Mushies with both First and Reserve Grade qualifying for the finals series. The First Grade team was the eventual New England Credit Union Premier League Champions, and the Reserve Grade team were beaten in the Grand Final in a penalty shootout.

First Grade finished the home and away season in equal 1st position with a total of 40 points, these coming from 12 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses. The First Grade team was declared Minor Premiers due to their superior goal difference of +27 (41 for, 14 against).

Reserve Grade finished the home and away season in 2nd position with a total of 47 points these coming from 15 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. The Reserve Grade team finished with a goal difference of +44 (56 for, 12 against).

2007

The 2007 Premier League Season had six teams competing for the Northern Inland Credit Union Premier League Title.

The 2007 season was a successful season with once again both First and Reserve Grade qualifying for the finals series. Both First and Reserve Grade were beaten in their respective Preliminary Finals, therefore finishing 3rd in their Competitions.

First Grade finished the home and away season in 3rd position with a total of 34 points. These coming from 11 wins, 1 draws and 6 losses. The First Grade Squad had a goal difference of +14 (36 for, 22 against).

Reserve Grade finished the home and away season in 3rd position with a total of 32 points. These coming from 10 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses. The Reserve Grade Squad had a goal difference of +8 (29 for, 21 against).

Rivalries

The Mushies have developed a strong rivalry with North Companions FC throughout the past due to the two clubs being the ongoing Tamworth teams entered in the Northern Inland Football Premier League Competitions. These fixtures have turned into gruelling battles for supremacy when on the pitch.

In recent years the Mushies have developed a fierce rivalry with Tamworth FC. These matches have become strong intense battles on the pitch.
