It was chilly in September. I sat in the back of my drivers ED class.
I looked at my teacher writing the subject on the blackboard. While she was writing, student started to fill the class. She stopped her writing and rolled her eyes when somebody new stepped in. She had blond hair. Even thought, she was African American, her hair was straight. She must have spent a very long time doing her hair because every single piece was in its right position. I noticed a mole on her right cheek. It was so big that I noticed it when I walked in. Class was about to start; I saw a young beautiful girl with a smile walked in. Her lips were open slightly, and wide enough to see her white teeth. She was Cuban. She had dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Her hair was pulled tightly behind her head. It was long and a little twisted. She had sharp thin eyebrows like a rainbow. She wore a tight jean and a red T-shirt. I have never seen anyone so perfect in my life.
This was the first time I remember really examining a girl. She had pink lips that shined to match with her pointed nose.
How did god create such a perfect person? My eyes followed her to her seat. I was telling myself she’s the one.
As I’ve grown up, I’ve seen many beautiful girls. Each girl had their own fashion and personality. But Genesis was different.
She was a friendly girl; and she also had a good heart. She changed my life, as well as the way felt about beautiful girls. Genesis proved that not all beautiful girls were heartless. She showed her smile and attitude of respect to everyone.
She was most popular girl in school. She even made me feel close the moment I saw her.
I felt like I knew her from the somewhere, or perhaps from the past life.
I started to have hope and reasons for going to school. I remember one day, when I walked in the hallway, I saw Genesis walking in a different direction.
Some girls echoed from the distance” Happy birthday genesis”.
She quickly turned her body around, smiled quickly, and replies “thanks”. I reached down quickly and grabbed pen and paper. I wrote down “September 9, 2003” Genesis’s Birthday”. I felt so happy to find out her birthday. I went to a store and got a four by six notebook. It had a cover was made of brown leather. It was thick, about 200 pages.
It was perfect for an activities note book. I went home and my journal began. Everyday when school was over, I would write something about her.
After years of flipping through pages almost every single page was about her. I wrote down each time I met her in school and out of school.
I’ve seen her in school often, and a few times out side of school.
The summer of 2004 I worked at one of the restaurants at Busch Gardens called Smoked House. I worked as a runner.
My job was to bring what ever they needed from the kitchen to the line. It was late afternoon; I saw Genesis walking from the back kitchen door. She came over to get coleslaw. She barely knew me back then, but she gave me a beautiful smiley face. I was surprised. I did not know what to say.
I just stood there and watch her for while. I was so happy to see her, but I tired not to show the expression. She asked one of my friends Anthony: “Where can I get coleslaw?” she said. “Its right there” said Anthony while point his finger. “Is this one here?” said Genesis. “Let’s me show you”, said Anthony and he walked toward to the fridge. Anthony filled her pain up half way full of coleslaw, and she left. It was not the only time I saw out side school. When I walked DMV, she was at one corner of the building. While I was waiting in line, I kept glancing at her.
She sat with her family waiting for her number to be called. Genesis’s mom sat with her legs crossed.
Genesis and her siblings sat near by. Her mom looks so young that I made a mistake. I thought it was her sister, I figured out later. She was going for her learner permit. I pretended not to see her. I was not trying to be rude. I was just afraid.
Every time I got close to her my heart pumped blood rush up and down. I slowly felt my hand getting cool, and shaky.
Quickly put my hands in my front pockets. At the same time my legs started to lose its balance. So many times I found my self breathless.
I had never seen a ghost before, but when I was frightened as if I had seen a ghost. I was scared, but I still had the corner of my eyes on her. I was not sure she has seen me. But I was sure the she passed her test and got her learner permit that day. I was so happy for her.
I have never got a chance to say any thing to her. Finally my senior year came around. Genesis was my class president again. She was approaching the class with several of her friends.
Soon she found a sat right next to me. As soon as she got comfortable with her seat; she turned her head to me and said
“Hey!” she continued, “Don’t forget to vote for me! I quickly responded with my head and smiled “I wanted to wear a crown” she smiled, and wickerling her body.. She raised both of her arms and put them around her head pretending they were a crown. I realized it was a homecoming season. I noticed her picture posted all over the places, hallway, and cafeteria. She was happy about the competition. She had a lovely smile on the post card.
A several groups of people helped her past flyers all over the school. Especially during lunch break, a group of guys were wearing a white t-shirt. It has written “Vote 4 Genesis” on front and back with a blue and a red marker. White, blue, and red is a color of our school.
It represented our, honest, happy, and power. I did not go to the game. However, our school won, and Genesis won homecoming queen.
I was very excited when I found that out a week later when I went back to school.
However, at one point I was upset, because I did not get a chance to see her wearing a crown. When our school year books came out, it had her pictures all over the year book. One of the pictures, she was standing on stage with white dress, holding a bunch of write roses, and a crown.
Majority of high school students did not feel like going to school. Many students said school was boring. Even students did not like school because they did not want to deal with mean teachers. However, during my sirnor year, I enjoyed going to class everyday. Genesis was drawing my attention about going to school. I remember one day we had a quiz in the class. Our teacher, Mrs. Catalo collected our works and past around the class room to check. When I got my paper back, I saw a signature in cursive “Vibe by Genesis”. It was the first time I saw her hand writing. I had no idea why she was special. Everything about her was important. I was exciting just saw her hand writing on my paper. As soon as I got home that day I wrote down how happy I was on the back of it, and placed it in side my book.
School was over with a blink of the eyes. It was summer of 2005. I went back to Busch Gardens. I worked in Restaurant called Italy Prevalence. I found out later, where Genesis used to work. I remember I was so excited to wait for her to come back. Sadly she could not make it that year. She did come the next summer. It was summer of 2006. I went back to the same place in summer of 2006. I remember everyday that I went to work with a big smile on my face. I just wanted to go to work and see her. It was like a dream come true. Some time I looked at my self in the mirror; I wanted to make sure I was not dreaming. Every second I enjoyed spending my time working with her. I felt happy at same time. Occasionally, we had our lunch break together. I was a supervisor, which allowed to me to set up a break time. Often I had my break time at time as her. I was a leader; it helped me to spend more time together with her. During our break we usually sat by the lockers outside the break area. There were several tables sitting out side for who wanted to breathe in fresh air of summer. Sometime, when we had a long break, we went to ride roller coaster in the park. Even though, we worked there, we still had to wait in line like everyone else. I did not realize people waited more then thirty minutes, sometime more to get on the ride. We waited patiently. Soon I found myself on the ride. My left hand went up in the air, while my right hand grabbed the bar. My mouth was wide opened when roller coaster dropped. Her both hands held on tight to the bar. She was scared. Both of her eyes were closed. We were laughing, after we got pictures when we were on the roller coater. I worked with her for several months. I earned enough confidence to tell her what I felt about her. It was late evening, in the break area; I sat with her face to face. It was warm and humid. My heart was pushing my rib cage against my sweat shirt. I almost couldn’t hold my breath. A week before I told her that I had something to tell her.
She probably has some idea of what I was going to say.
I had practiced a week before on what I was going to say to her, but I still could not mange to keep my hands still.
Once I spoke the words they did not come out right. “You know you are a wonderful person. You’re not just beautiful. You have every the personality of a woman that every man wants, that makes every man fall in love with you.” She quickly responded “I did not do anything” “I know that” I stopped her and continued
“It was a gift, a gift that every girl wishes for. You’re lucky, and you should be happy.”
I smiled while I was talking. I added, “I just wanted you to know that I am one of those men who have fallen in love with you.
I was going to keep talking, and all of a sudden I heard.
“You like me?” she smiled at me. This sentence shook my brain. My heart started to slow down a little. I paused, and leaned back and started to rock my chair. I crossed my arms and smiled at her. “Yeah” I said as I bit my lips. That night I came home with a big smile. A week later, I got up early. It was a Saturday morning. I quickly turned off my alarm clock and got dressed. I started to drive to my girlfriend’s house to pick her up for work. Morning fog was still absorbing cool air. As soon as I started to drive, the morning air morning rushed rapidly against the warm air in the car.
I clicked the windshield wipers button several times before I got to me girl friend’s house. Fifteen minutes later, I parked in front of her house. She opened her front door just enough to peek her head out to see me. Her hair was uncombed. Ten minutes later, she started to make her way out of the house.
Her curly brunette hair was combed neatly. She looked like a princess; she called her self a Princess Tahiti.
I got off the car and walked to her. I reached down my hand and I grabbed one of her arm. I opened the door for and her.
When she got in the car, she smiled, and said “thank you”.
When I got in the car, I reached over and turned music in lower tune. She was talking to me while holding the Wal Mart ads.
She likes shopping. I found that out at my first day took her to work. I found out later, white rose it was her favorite flower. She also likes sweet candle. Every time I took her for shopping, she would spend more then thirty minutes just to find her candle. As always, I wanted to be close to her, and spend every second that I could find with her. No matter how long it took her to shopping, I enjoyed just being close to her. I remember when we were together; we were happiest couple on planet. There is no place on earth could be happier. We would find any available time to see each other. At work we talked and played during our lunch break. Each night we sent each other message.
I called her many times a day just to say “I love you.”
In the morning I picked her up for work, and dropped her off at night. Each night after I got home I found myself smiling before I went to sleep. I could not stop thinking about of her. I just wanted share my pillow with her at nigh, and share a night time story with her. I wanted see her right next to me when I wake up in the morning, and I want to cook a breakfast for her. I wanted to laugh with her when she happy. I just wanted to be part of her life. All the excitement came to an end when I tricked her. Perhaps, when you care about somebody so much, you do many stupid things without knowing it. Love encouraged me to set her up because I was jealousy. Once I sent my buddy Murat to ask Genesis out. I did that because I saw Genesis and Murat were flirting. I caught them when they were giggling. Murat was tickling her. Genesis smiled and started to punch him back. Murat was holding on to her arms. He tried to tickle her again, she started to laugh again. She used one of her arm that un touch tried to help and other arm in Murat’s hand. Murat quickly grabbled and holds both arms. I was standing from the distance. My heart was broken. I got jealous. A few hours later, I was begging Murat to take Genesis out. “ are you crazy man? He said. “look, I know this is not right!, but I wanted to make sure, if she really loves me, “but, man, I could do this to my best friend” “ would you do it, if it make your best friend happy?” “But, I.” “Hi look man, I’m asking for your help, if it was not you I wouldn’t.” He did not want to do at first, but kept put pressure on him. He agreed to talk to Genesis. Murat and I was best friend. He was Turkish. He was an average size guy, about five foot five. He was a lady man type of guy.
He came to United State as temporary worker. He has to go back in next couple months. I was hanging out with him many times. I treated him like my best friend. Murat went over and tried to ask her out. At the end of the night he came to me, and told me the story. I felt sorry for Murat, but I felt much better.
A week later, Murat came to me. “ Hi man,,this is messed up, I could not even look at her in the eyes. I gonna have to tell Genesis the truth”. “Yeah!! You’re right, I’m sorry for putting you through all this” “ no problem man,,I do it for my best friends, you like a brother to me” “Thanks again, but I will tell her,,, don’t worry” I could not keep my secret from her for long. Next morning I told her everything. She got so mad; she did not want to talk to me again. She said I tricked her. I tried to explain, but she did not listen. I have no idea how the jealous feeling came around me. My heart was little tearing apart when she was flirting with some other boy. I felt like some part of my body was missing. I could not control my feeling. I could blame anybody my self.
If I was not such a full, she still could be mind. It was unusual feeling that I have admitted, I was a little over reacting. It was a way of man to feel jealous to girl that he cares the most. How come I did not have that emotion when my dad flirting with my mom?
I instead laughed and smiled when I saw my uncle flirting with my aunt. Why it made such a big difference with Genesis? From moment we were apart, I tried to stop thinking about her. I said to my self “what are you trying to do? She loves other guy, not you, you got to move on, man!,,
you still in school, you could not even afford my self to live, how you make a girl love you?” I made up so many excuses,
and I tired to denying not loving her, yet it was hard then I thought. No matter how hard I tired, or what reason or method I attempted. I always fall. It was the hardest thing I ever done in my life. I had a dream about her almost every night. Like everyone said: love is driven people nuts. Love played such a huge role in people many people life. Love between young teenagers is difference from parent’s love child, aunt’s love niece, brother and sister love.
Yet It is such a big deals that once you fallen in love, at some point you would do anything for it.
However, fallen in love with Genesis; it was the most beautiful thing to me. It has giving me a chance to explore the true feeling an adulthood. I learned a very important lesson for my life. If I have a wish, I wish fall in love again.
