Phoradiadius is an extinct genus of sparnotheriodontid litoptern that lived from the Middle Eocene to Late Eocene in what is now Argentina. Fossils of this genus have been found in the Divisadero Largo Formation of Argentina. The genus name is an anagram of Diadiaphorus, a proterotheriid, which it was originally classified as.[1]
Etymology
[edit]The genus name, Phoradiadius, is an anagram of the proterotheriid genus Diadiaphorus. The specific name, divortiensis, is derived from divortium, meaning "separation" or "divorce", for Divisadero Largo.[1]
Description
[edit]Phoradiadius was a medium-sized sparnotheriodontid, smaller than Notiolofos and Sparnotheriodon.
