Collegiate Girls' High School is a public English- speaking medium high school for girls in Parsons Hill, Gqeberha, in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is considered one of the most prestigious girls high schools in the Eastern Cape.[1]
History
[edit]The school was founded by a committee of mostly ladies who were the residents of the city (Port Elizabeth), formed in 1873, who identified the need for a school for girls in the city. By 2 September 1873 the school had formed, and was called The Port Elizabeth Collegiate School for Girls. The school officially opened its doors to 38 pupils in February 1874, with its first principal being Miss V L Isitt. The school has since moved to its present location, to the citys' suburb of Parsons Hill.[2]

[edit]The school offers boarding for its pupils with its boarding facility with its hostel called Waterfield. There are 21 societies for its pupils, including Outreach and social.[3]
