About me

[edit]

I am a running start student at Everett Community College. My hobbies include hiking, soccer, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and recently I've been taking an interest in journaling. Journaling consistently everyday for four months and only fifteen minutes a day has been proven to reduce stress and ultimately lower your blood pressure. [1] When I'm not out and about exploring the world with my friends, I'm most likely taking pictures of the sky or checking out new shows with my cousins.

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

My passion for sports does not just stop at soccer, watching every sport will have me satisfied. I enjoy watching college basketball and football more than the pros, only because I feel like I have a closer connection to the rivalries and competitiveness that comes with it. Having an active twitter account allows me to always be caught up in the latest celebrity drama so I'm sure an interest there will peak.

Article evaluation

[edit]

Marysville Getchell is a high school in Marysville, Washington. It was established in 2006 and its first year of school was 2010. I am lucky enough to attend this beautiful campus. I want Marysville's Wikipedia to be up to date, so, I visited the Marysville Getchell High School article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: a lack of citations, outdatedness, and incomplete aspects inside of Marysville Getchell.

Citations

[edit]

During my search, I realized that there were citations, but not many were very accurate. The ones that were there, were not up to date. The references and external links were scattered throughout the article, but the dates ranged from 2009 to 2013. I feel like it's important to have citations updated because the campus has changed a lot since it was first built.

Outdated

[edit]

The most recent update on the articles was from 2019. At the beginning of the first paragraph, there is a section stating that the campus no longer has small learning communities. In the facilities section, it still mentions the four SLC's. To readers who know nothing about the campus, this could be confusing. They could still think that there are buildings dedicated just for their SLC rather than the campus as a whole having 4 different buildings and a gymnasium.

Incomplete

[edit]

I feel as if this article only explains the base of Marysville Getchell and doesn't go in depth. All we have read about is the foundation and designs that make the school, but we don't know anything about the environment on the inside of the school. There is nothing about the accomplishments of Getchell. The girl's soccer team were the 2019 district champions and were sent off to state, but that isn't stated in the article. The boy's basketball also had a state appearance in 2020. There have been many accomplishments inside of the school, but we don't know anything about that. I think adding stuff like that would be a cool adjustment.

Summary

[edit]

All in all, I'd give this article an "alright" rating. For the most part, almost all the information is correct. The main problem is, the citations lack being up to date, which has caused some information to not be as accurate. If there were pieces that included what is going on inside of the school and the accomplishments it has, I would have given it a higher rating. Also, I feel like adding information will benefit everyone's knowledge of the school.
