History is a level-2 vital article that deserves better than C-class and a jumble of undigested information. Here are some ideas on how to bring it to B-class and eventually GA and FA status.

• Add a "History of history" section with "main article" link to "Historiography". The history of the discipline is now presented in a section called "Historical methods", which lists names instead of presenting explanations.

• Explain the distinction between "the past" and "the discipline that studies it" more clearly in the lede.

• Important concepts and schools: Annales School, influence of anthropology, linguistic turn, better explanation of postmodernism", historical materialism, multi-disciplinarity.
