Update 2022:
After many years of inattention and opposition to nuclear power, in spite of my two years as a physicist in Laser Fusion, I have now a keen interest in nuclear fission. Global warming has become a big problem. Solar and wind have yet to solve the problem of intermittency. There are some new reactor designs that promise to solve the problems that have held back nuclear power for decades - safety, waste management, weapons proliferation, and cost.
I am neither pro- nor anti-nuclear. If you must label me, I am pro-science. I gather the facts. I respect others' opinions, even when I disagree.

Current Work:
Nuclear power reconsidered - A cluster of articles I am working on at Citizendium, where I am an Associate Editor for Engineering.
ThorCon nuclear reactor - I chose this reactor as the first to work on at Wikipedia, because the editors here suggested I work on improving an old article before starting any new ones. This effort was joined by some contributors who appear to be anti-nuclear. Rather that fight with them, I chose to finish the work at Citizendium. Thorcon nuclear reactor

Old stuff:
Offshore oil spill prevention - what went wrong technically in the DeepWater Horizon disaster. This article has been heavily edited and diluted with regulatory issues. It is no longer a useful summary of the technical problems. You will have to look back at earlier revisions to see my intent.

Email system - best explanation of how our email system really works.

I am an Electrical Engineer with a PhD in Applied Physics (Caltech 1975). Most of my career has been in the design of analog integrated circuits. I am now a Research Associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Arizona.

My current interest is in the problem of establishing trust on the Internet, particularly for email systems. I have started a non-profit open-mail.org, which is sponsoring a Registry of Internet Transmitters. I am also the mail admin for box67.com, which provides the real-world experience I need to develop better models and systems.

Before I retire, I would like to put a big dent in the Internet crime problem. I believe the Registry will do that.
