Flowingfire (talk) on Equality Ride (closed)
Brief: A user who disapproves of the Equality Ride continuously removes the majority of the Equality Ride article. All information in the article can be verified in publications like The Advocate, Sojourners Magazine, The LA Times, The Washington Post, the St. Petersburg Times, etc, etc, etc. This user, however, has changed this verifiable information repeatedly in order to cast a negative light on the Equality Ride. Furthermore, he adds unverifiable opinions criticizing the Equality Ride without even bothering to write it in Neutral Voice. I have reverted this article several times now and it's getting old. He has not responded to me on the discussion board, either. I believe he's using two or three different usernames on Wikipedia. Please help. The Equality Ride was a good thing, and I don't want to see this article become a slander zone with unverifiable critical content. - This is really just a simple case of vandalism - I've warned the vandal (single use account [1]) - hopefully that's as far as it'll go. (I've moved this from the AMA page to here). If the user continues to blank the article, please let me know on my talk page, and I'll warn him a bit more . If he still persists, a sysop may ban the user, but it's best to see if the warning works first, and four warnings must be issued before a ban is given. Hope this has helped a bit :) Martinp23 21:23, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- I hope this is OK - If the user starts deleting content again without reason, I'll warn him, and if he continues he'll get a ban (I've got the page on my watchlist, so I'll clear up his edits quickly). Based on the nature of the case, I've closed it at the AMA board, because there's not much we can do except revert and warn. I've also left a message on the vandal's talk page explaining the policy to him - could you let me know on my talk page if you're happy with the resolution (as it is now)? Thanks Martinp23 21:35, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for keeping an eye on the Equality Ride article. I appreciate it. Yes, I agree that all we can do is revert and warn at this point. I don't know how to warn or anything, so I thought I should ask for help. I have a feeling this guy won't give up right away though . . .—Preceding unsigned comment added by Flowingfire (talk • contribs) 21:44, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Glad to have been of some help :) I'll keep an eye on the situation and if needed, report the user to an admin for blocking (probably after I apply a few more warnings). PS - to get a signature automatically generated at the end of your messages, just type ~~~~. The signature is just a link to your userpage, but it greatly improves talkpage readability -- Martinp23 21:48, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
