Luria (Surname)
[edit]Luria (Surname) is a Jewish surname[1] dating back to at least 1030s BC and specifically under the lineage of King David (Born c. 1037 BCE) in the Kingdom of Israel (united monarchy).
The Surname translates to "By Light of God"[2] and more-so recently traces it's historical roots to Rashi, Isaac Luria, Alexander Luria, Salvador Luria, Sigmund Freud, Karl Marx, Felix Mendelssohn all of which derived their heritage from the lineage of the Luria Family[3].
The Luria family is known to be the oldest surname associated with the Tribe of Judah, in the United Kingdom of Israel under the capital Jerusalem[4].
The house symbol is the Lion, and often represented outside the entrance to Synagogues, and under the Municipal emblem of Jerusalem.
