'The Dave Vegas Project'

The Dave Vegas Project is a musical collaboration of singer songwriter Chris Watkins and drummer Drew Rose, and is quickly gaining cult status in the midlands music scene

The two musicians officially formed The Dave Vegas Project in September 2009 after some 'impromtu afterparties' in their hometown of Northampton, consisting of an acoustic guitar and a variety of household objects as percussion instruments

The duo played their first gig on September 25th 2009 at Billing Aquadrome Holiday Park in Northampton, and what started out as 'a couple of organised jams' quickly snowballed. With the band securing gig after gig, by the time the 2009 festive period hit the calender, The Dave Vegas Project had won the acolade of finalists in Majick Music Groups Battle of the Bands 2009, had gained BBC Introducing airplay and headlines londons legendary Hope & Anchor venue in Islington!

December 2009 saw the industry release of 'The Lexi Says Snuggle Demos' - a group of demos recorded by the band at alchemea studios in London by producer Tom Proost. The Demos served the purpose and soon the Northampton based film co. 'The Film Lab' got in touch after hearing the demos and funded the video to 'Higher than the Sun' (the lead track from the demo cd)- directed by Paul Michael Hughes, the video soon become a cult internet hit! 'Higher Than The Sun' gained a cinema screen premiere at Northamptons Picturedrome venue and a screening at The Umbrella Festival in 2010.

Early 2010 saw the band return to Northampton to play a series of hometown gigs, in which a cult following soon become apparent. With the band taking a break during the spring, but keeping well within both the media and their fanbase's attenions through social networking sites, It became clear that The Dave Vegas Project was here to stay.

The headline slot at Northamptons prestigious Balloon Festival proved a fitting venue for both a come back gig, and the news that the duo would be embarking on an autumn tour called 'The Back Home 2010 Tour'. The name of the tour coming from the fact that the boys return back to Northampton at least once a week throughout the threemonth tour between Sept 2009 and Dec 2009.

The Dave Vegas Project also announced in Sept 2009 that their much anticipated debut EP, in which they have secured a promotion deal with Tesco, HMV, iTunes, and Spotify amoungst others, will be available 'in the first 6 months of 2011'

And so the story continues, with a cult following growing in the midlands and ties with both NME and BBC Introducing, who knows what 2011 will bring for Northamptons favourite 'kids in the riot!'
