Joey Santore is an American botanist and science communicator known for his youtube channel Crime Pays but Botany Doesn't.[1][2] Santore is known for his long form videos, which consist of commentary filled hikes of plant communities from areas local to the western United States or abroad such as the Dominican Republic, New Caledonia and South Africa.[1] The tone he uses for his commentary is distinctly non-academic, while remaining scientifically faithful, contributing to his broad appeal.[2] Working long-distance freight for most of his adult life, Santore's botany knowledge is self taught.
As of November 2022 his channel has 327,000 subscribers.[3]
