The PGA Tour had a Reading Open Tournament that was held Reading, Pennsylvania in the into the 1950s. It was revitalized in the 1980’s as 2 Delco transplants invited highly skilled amateurs to compete for the coveted Plaid Jacket in 1984 at the tough Flying Hills Golf Course. Since then the newly named “Greater Reading Open” has changed venues many times – more out of necessity then by design. Blackwood, Green Acres, Pheasant Hills, The Exeter Dump, Arrowhead have hosted the tourney over the years but Twin Ponds has been the held this prestigious event since 1996. Some of the early Champions were Mike “PW” Hooven, “Stats” Pirato, “Ads” Adelsberg, Some guy from Norton, “Crybaby” Santalarci, “Eraser Burns”, Cuzzin Jimi No-past, “Rat” Bingaman, and “Davey-boy” Brennan who was the only golfer to repeat as champion
