IT Retail IT Retail, INC. is a point of sale systems provider that develops, sells, and services POS systems for independent grocery retailers. IT Retail offers a software suite that includes front-end POS, back-end reporting, customer relation, inventory tracking, and multi-store management. The development platform used for the software includes Microsoft Windows 7 and XP, SQL Server, Visual Basic, .Net and Microsoft Office.
Founded in 1993 in Crestline, California, IT Retail’s North American headquarters is now in Riverside, California. It has since expanded globally having braches in South America, Central America, Europe, and Asia.
Company history
[edit]In 1992 Martin Goodwin and Bob Henry, combined their passions of grocery management and computer programming to create one of the worlds first Windows based POS systems[1]. They did this by combining all the essential front-end applications (receipt printer, PIN pad, Barcode reader, and cash drawer) into an IBM Model M running Windows NT. After testing the From there they developed the software in the basement of Goodwin's family owned grocery store.
Two years later IT Retail partnered with Microsoft, with the goal of advancing their software into the international sphere[2]. This partnership enabled them to keep on ahead of the technology curve. In the early 2000’s they teamed up with Dell’s point of sale solutions with the goal of providing an affordable, yet durable solution.
IT Retail’s has constrained their expansion to within the industry of grocery POS systems, focusing on implementing various programs such as LaneHawk, Line Busting Solutions, and Fuel Land. IT Retail does not want to leave its roots, its goal is to be the most feature filled, well rounded POS system available for grocery stores.
Customers
[edit]IT Retail’s first major sales occurred in Mexico in 1995 with the supermarket chain Soriana. Shortly thereafter Soriana’s main competitor, Comercial Mexicana, also implemented IT Retail’s software. Since then they have partnered with numerous resellers around the world selling to some of the largest chains IT Retail’s customers include: United_Natural_Foods, 99 Ranch Market, Strack Vantill, IGA (supermarkets), Market of Choice, Dollar Store, Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers,
