Writing for Wikipedia I would like to contribute to the understanding of the worldwide feminist movement by writing about aspects of the feminist movement in German speaking Europe. Many articles on the feminist or women’s movement separate the history along national boundaries, which doesn’t reflect the nature of the movement.
Many articles in English only report from the feminist movement in English speaking countries, mostly USA. Very often they are headed with this call: “The examples and perspective in this article deal primarily with the United States and do not represent a worldwide view of the subject. “
Last week I wrote on feminist film in Germany as part of the article “second-wave feminism”.
So I am trying now to add some aspects from the feminist movement in Germany to articles in English, specially aspects that might be of relevance in many other countries. This might inspire Wikipedians of other continents to contribute to this issue.
I hope to get some support for this idea and guidance how to realize it properly.
