Lari Basilio
[edit]Lari (Larissa) Basilio (born June 23, 1988) is a brazilian guitarist, songwriter and producer. She was considered by Guitar World Magazine "one of the most exciting names in instrumental rock".[1], and also described as "one of today's most tasteful guitar virtuosos".[2]
Basilio started her musical journey as a guitarist playing in bands and churches in Brazil. In 2011, she started her solo career, working on her instrumental five-song Extended Play (EP), named, simply, Lari Basilio, which features Felipe Andreoli, bass player of Angra. The EP was produced by the five-time Latin Grammy winner Lampadinha.
Her second original record, the album and DVD “The Sound of My Room“, was released in August, 2015 and it was premiered at the iconic brazilian movie theater Cine Belas Artes in São Paulo.
Lari's third original record, “Far More” album (2019), was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles featuring as band: Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), Nathan East (bass) and Greg Phillinganes (keys/piano). Far More album also bringing two special guests: Joe Satriani (on the track Glimpse of Light) and Siedah Garrett (on the track Man in The Mirror, for which Lari created a new arrangement). The album was produced by Lari Basilio and Rodrigo Rios.[3]
In 2022 Lari Basilio released the album “Your Love”. The album, produced by Lari Basilio was recorded at United Recording Studios[4] in Los Angeles and features once again Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), and also the bass players Sean Hurley and Leland Sklar, and Ester Na (keys and piano).[5][6][7][8][9]
Lari won the instrumental category of the Samsung E-Festival in 2014 and performed for a crowd of 15,000 at the Samsung Best of Blues Festival in São Paulo, Brazil.[10]
Additionally, Lari was part of the Joe Satriani's G4 Experience 2019[11][12] and also the John Petrucci's Guitar Universe 4.0 in 2023.[13]
Lari has performed alongside many artists such as Steve Vai and Zeparella (Malibu Guitar Festival 2017), Siedah Garrett(Pizza Express London), Dirty Loops (Roskilde Festival 2022)[14], Willow Smith and Travis Barker (The Tonight Show Satting Jimmy Fallon)[15] , Willow Smith featuring Avril Lavigne for the Facebook Live show, Doja Cat (2020 MTVEMAs Performance), A-mei, Manu Gavassi, Rodrigo Teaser, Girls, Mika, Sophia Abraão, Samuel Rosa and Rodrigo Suricato for the Sinfonia Samsung Rock show[16].
Basilio was also featured artist and session guitarist for various artists worldwide such as Martin Miller[17], Pete Thorn, Nik West, Marilia Mendonça, Kell Smith, Junior e Cesar, Joe Basilio, Clas Vardstedt, José Antonio Rodrígues, Tyler Larson, among others.
Biography
[edit]Lari Basilio was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She was raised and remains Protestant Christian.
At the age of 4 she started studying organ. As a young child, Lari was influenced by her father, who was always playing organ and acoustic guitar around the house, which stimulated her interest in music.
At the age of 8 her father taught her first chords on an acoustic guitar. That's when she fell in love with the instrument.
When she was a teenager, she started to get private guitar lessons with some guitar teachers from São Paulo. One of them was a well-know jazz guitarist in Brazil, Djalma Lima.
In 2010, Lari graduated in Law at Universidade São Judas Tadeu in São Paulo, Brazil and got her professional license at the brazilian attorneys association (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil). Lari worked as a lawyer for about 1 year until she decided to stop the law career to pursue her music career.
Signature Products
[edit]Lari Basilio's signature guitar were unveiled at NAMM Show in January, 2021.[20][21][22][23]. Lari released, in partnership with Ibanez Guitars, her first signature electric guitar, the Ibanez LB1-VL. Guitar World Magazine article reveled this guitar "has gone on to become one of the most popular and best-selling six-strings of Ibanez’s current catalog."[24]
In 2023 Ibanez introduced at NAMM Show a new version of Lari Basilio signature guitar, in white, the Ibanez LB1-WH.[25][26]
The Lari Basilio Signature Pickups were developed in partnership with Seymour Duncan. The HSS pickup set were first featured only on Lari Basilio's signature guitar, Ibanez LB1, introduced at NAMM Show in January, 2021.
Later, at NAMM Show 2023, the pickups became available for purchase individually and as a set [28][29][30]. The pickup set was considered "the most versatile HSS pickup set on the market"[28].
Lari became the first female signature artist in Seymour Duncan's history.

Lari was invited by the music producer, Ruben Feffer, to record the electric guitars to animation film Tromba Trem, released in Brazil in 2022.[31][32]
- Radio
Lari wrote, arranged and recorded the soundtracks for the most famous rock radio in Brazil, The 89 Radio Rock, produced by Lampadinha. The tracks were performed also by Lucas Bidran on drums and Lena Papini on bass.[33]
