"Phosphatase" Review by Isaiah Herrera
The article defines the function of phosphatases very clearly and it was organized very well. I was impressed by the article’s explanation of the importance of phosphatases and the detail in which it described phosphatases' distinction from kinases or phosphorylases. I also thought that the classification section went into enough detail, in light of the fact that classifying phosphatases involves 104 distance enzyme families. I would suggest that the author add more information on modern day advances pertaining to phosphatases. The article mentions that they are an area of interest for pharmaceutical research. A specific use of a phosphatase to develop a pharmaceutical drug would greatly enhance the context and importance of this enzyme in our daily lives. The most important thing that could improve the article is the addition of examples of specific phosphatases in pathways. I noticed that you were able to add a general image of the chemical reaction that phosphatases catalyze. I found that this use of imagery could be valuable in my article.
I will edit the article for Phosphatase. My intentions for the edit are in my sandbox page. Also, for the week 3 assignment of adding a few sentences to another article, I updated the educational information for Carolyn Cohen.
