Nicolas Bauta is a living artist of site-specific works and workspaces, combining metalwork, sculptor and interior designer into his real estate projects and entrepreneurial community building ventures. His body of work touches upon the personal and public in his utilization of repurposed leather for jewelry and fashion as well as the rehabilitation of vacant buildings and abandoned industrial sites for public usage. Nicolas has invested his time and resources into the creation of common spaces that support and nurture creative communities. His partnership with Clay Rockefeller to create The Steelyard, an 1803 to 2003 city block wide lot home to Providence Iron and Steel transformed into a public metalwork and sculpture garden and metal shop, has been praised for its innovation in understanding and working along the Brownfields Law. Nicolas has played a partnership role in the establishment of several galleries and live music venues and institutions in Providence. He is the co-founder and principal investor in a rich portfolio of not for profit and commercial ventures since 2000: Art Recreation Center, Firehouse 13, Millhaus, The Steelyard, One Sims Avenue, and Archetype LLC d.b.a. Fete.
