Greetings

[edit]

My handle refers to my Cepheid Variable (the science fiction group at Texas A&M University, not the astrological phenomenon of the same name) Delta Name and a tag to easily identify myself to fellow Cepheids. Longshot was a minor X-Men character. The number 14 refers not to the White Supremacist meaning, but rather an apocryphal story relating to a Cepheid of two or more decades ago.

Contributions

[edit]

I have so far (as of 3/07/06) focused on minor spelling edits, and almost trivial content additions to Freebirds, USS Texas, John Stuart Mill, Air Force One, Candyman and Clayton Williams.

Trolling for Spelling Corrections

[edit]

succede vs. succeed - COMPLETED!  :) prior to 3/12/06 - Exceptions are for succedent (which most commonly appears in pages pertaining to astrology and logic), Italian variants of the word, and misspellings present in original quotes. By far, the majority of my contributions have been corrections of various misspellings of succeed (most commonly on listings for lines of nobility, history of holders of political positions, professional wrestlers, and classes of naval vessels). 25 pages of search results.

espacially vs. especially - Completed prior to 3/12/06. The list of entries in which the misspelling occurred was MUCH smaller than that for succede/succeed, thankfully ;). 4 pages of search results.

notewothy vs. noteworthy - Completed. Only a trivial number of entries contained this misspelling. Completed prior to 3/12/06. 1 page of search results.

Words containing the root heirarch vs. hierarch - ex. hierarchy, hierarchal, hierarchical, etc - completed. Only 1 page of entries and one had to be redirected via misspelling, to hierarchical classifier (in the process removing a redundant entry in need of wikifying to point to the correctly-spelled entry of substance). Completed prior to 3/12/06. 10-ish pages of search results.

Words containing the root perciev vs. perceiv - Completed prior to 3/12/06. 7 pages of search results.

Words containing the root acheiv vs. achiev - Completed 3/12/06. 9 pages of search results.

Words containing the root adress vs. address - Completed 3/15/06. 8 pages of search results.

Current Project Plan

[edit]

Get the entry for USS Texas (BB-35) brought up to Featured Article quality. Looks good content-wise, but perhaps needs better formatting and source citations - use the entries for Iowa class battleship, USS Missouri and USS Wisconsin for comparison, since all three of these are Featured Articles.
