Total Frat Move
History
[edit]Total Frat Move was founded in 2010 by Madison Wickham and Ryan Young, both of whom had been Kappa Alpha fraternity brothers at Texas State University.[2] Young approached Wickham with the idea based on the catchphrase "Total Frat Move" that their fraternity brothers in college would use when referring to "ridiculous stories about girls, drinking, and college."[2] Young and Wickham purchased the domain name and began publishing "fratty" one-liners along with their acronyms, and soon began allowing readers to do the same.[2] Following its founding the site was responsible for helping popularize the use of terms such as GDI, "God Damn Independents", referring to students who are not members of greek life, and others such as "Not Frat."[2] TFM gained popularity through the use of Twitter to spread their "one-liners", whereby Wickham and Young followed numerous people who they believed fit the part of a "southern, stereotypical fraternity guy," and would then accumulate followers from those individuals.[2] Following their success with TFM, Wickham and Young created a separate company, Grandex, and created sites such as Total Sorority Move and Post Grad Problems.[2]
