About Me

I'm a theme park enthusiast who enjoys getting coaster credit and riding coasters over and over. I've been to tons of theme parks including Universal Orlando, Disney World, and Busch Gardens Tampa. I have 50 coasters under my belt and Maverick is one of the more interesting ones I've ridden. My favorite rollercoaster is Magnum XL-200, which was the first to break 200 feet for rollercoasters. I do wish that Wild Waves would make better moves in making more thrilling rides than what they have now. The last rollercoaster they put in was when Six Flags owned it for a bit. I also love playing video games, and play Parkitect, Civilization 6, HumanKind, Rimworld, and lots of other games. I also watch Twitch content creators, like Atrioc, and Ludwig before he moved to YouTube.

My Wikipedia Interests

I use Wikipedia a lot for researching roller coasters and seeing the kind of history they've had, as it can be super interesting. I love looking at old rollercoasters, for more of the history, though RCDB is better for finding a roller-coaster and the basic info. I'd also like to start a Wikipedia article for Wild Waves' TimberHawk Ride of Prey.

Evaluation of an Article

I've had a large interest in rollercoasters and everything theme parks. After visiting Cedar Point last summer, I found a ton of interest in the coasters they have there, and while the Wikipedia article on Cedar Point are great, the specific articles on the coasters are varied in amount in content and how well they were done. The one I'm focusing is Gemini, which is a racing wooden support, steel track, coaster built by Arrow. I visited the Gemini article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: there was some evidence missing, some dead links, and missing citations.

My first critique was how there was some evidence, or in other words, missing context, "All three record-breaking claims were falsely made as other coasters around the world already beat Gemini." The issue is they don't actually support that, they support it only with 2 falsely made claims, and the third one (steepness) wasn't actually given any evidence on what broke the record prior to Gemini. The other interesting thing is that it's missing a history section, it doesn't actually talk about that, which I found quite interesting as most other rollercoasters pages have them, and Gemini is quite notable for Cedar Point and rollercoaster enthusiasts. It also misses a bit of what the layout does, as it only mentions the drop and how the coasters race, but otherwise doesn't actually say how many hills it has, while other pages do Magnum XL-200. My second critique is an overwhelming amount of the citations are dead, as the pages have been removed, which isn't great. The only two links that still work are the first two which are newspapers. The rest don't work, which cite some important info that definitely should be fixed so that there are new sources, and so that the info being stated isn't difficult to find. Especially since the links were retrieved back in 2009, the links are needed to be renewed with some new sources that might be more reliable as a source. My third critique is there's a decent amount of missing citations because when they reference that Arrow manufactured it and the designer, there's no citation for it. The other citation they missed was when they talked about how many trains Gemini runs they don't cite where they find that info, where it can be easily found from RCDB, which is a roller coaster database that has a majority of all that info. They also do not cite the layout of the station, although it is an interesting fact there's no citation, so I'm not sure how much to trust that one as well. Its small layout description could also have a citation although not many rollercoaster pages have citations for that.

This is a great page as a start but it definitely requires some work as its missing a lot of info, and seems to not have been worked on much since 2009 or so. It's only gotten a few edits but none to actually fix sources or add info that it requires. But I definitely think it could use a lot of improvement.
