Fr. Cherian Nereveettil @ Cheriyan N.J. was a priest of Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese of catholic church, Kerala, India.
He was chief editor of Sathyadeepam,a Catholic weekly from Kochi. He was also part of the Jesus Youth International Council as its spiritual leader for nearly 17 years.
He died on 27 May 2021 at the age of 49 years. He was undergoing treatment following a road traffic accident on May 13. He suffered severe head injury and was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Kochi. The funeral rites were held at Mary Queen Church, Thoppil, Thrikkakara, Kochi City, Ernakulam District, Kerala.
He was born at Thoppil, near Edappally on 8th June,1971. He studied at St. Joseph Primary School, Thoppil and Cardinal Highschool, Thrikkakara. Thereafter he joined seminary and studied at Minor Seminary, Thrikkakara and Papal seminary, Pune. On 1st January 1997, he got ordained as a priest by Bishop Mar Jacob Manathodath at St. George Forane Church, Edappally. He served at Koratty, Ernakulam Basilica, Eloor, Perumanoor parishes. Lastly Fr Nereveettil was the vicar of St Gianna Church at Maradu.
In 2013, Fr Nereveettil voluntarily donated his kidney to a girl student, unknown to him, without any publicity.
His father is Aniyachn @ Joseph. Mother is Baby. His brothers are Robin@ Devassy, Roshi@ Varghese.
