Crest Ilford Cycling Club Introduction The Crest Ilford Cycling Club was founded in 1935 by a group of East London cyclists for the purpose of racing and leisure cycling. The club is affiliated to the national governing body for cycling in the UK: British Cycling [1] and is formally registered as a Go-Ride club, which means it has provision for coaching facilities and is active in promoting the sport and recreation of cycling to new starters. In January of 2011 the club had a membership of fifty five, of which thirty are regularly active. Club colours are purple, white and green. Activities The club meets on the first wednesday of every month at Highams Park School in Chingford, North East London. The venue includes a 0.5 km tarmac road circuit which is used for training and coaching. Club members are active every weekend throughout the year, holding mountain bike rides every Saturday and social clubruns every Sunday.
