Robert Lanza
Robert Lanza is a sports and entertainment lawyer in New York and California. During his career , he worked in , among other places , Morgan Lewis , Sonnenschein Nath (the predecessor of Denton’s-the world’ largest law firm ) and served as Chief Counsel to the NBA players association. He ultimately founded his own law firm along with Tom Reich, the first super agent in Major League Baseball and George Daniel , the former commissioner of the National Lacrosse League. Throughout his career he has first chaired over fifty litigations and represented a number of high profile companies and individuals, eg, Fortune 500 companies , NBA players , NHL Players , MLB players , NASCAR driver, tennis players and professional sports teams and Leagues. He was instrumental in organizing the WNBA. He also represented well known performers and recording artists. Some of his cases included first chairing the the arbitration where an NBA player allegedly choked his coach and leading the case along with Ritch Winter and Neil Sheehy which resulted in the appointment of a new Executive Director of the NHLPA, the union representing all NHL players. Bob was on the short list to serve as the new executive director for the NHLPA but withdrew his name to continue practicing law.
While working as an attorney , he founded O’neill & Lanza , along with Dan O’Neill, the former president of , among others Campbell’s soup and Vice Chair of Molson’s. He was also president of a not for profit, Hemofarm US, which purpose was to supply potable water in Eastern Europe , where he was a guest of honor of the Prince of Serbia.
Bob is noted for his aggressive approach to the law which he says comes directly from his time in the United States Marine Corp.
