An introduction to LibrarianAtLarge
[edit]Who am I?
[edit]As my username indicates, I am a librarian. I work in children's services in a public library located in the suburbs of Chicago. I have an Master's degree in Librarian Science and a BA in English Literature.
Why am I here?
[edit]I use Wikipedia all the time. Yes, I am a librarian who uses Wikipedia and recommends it to students as a great starting point for research, especially on very current and/or obscure topics. I created my first page because someone else hadn't yet done so! I don't think I'd ever not found a page on a topic that I thought would definitely be included in Wikipedia. So, I am stepping up and giving it a try. I'm hoping that I can continue to make contributions (beyond financial donations) to this resource I use all the time.
What do I know?
[edit]As a children's librarian in a public library, I have expertise in children's literature and services to children, in general. I'm also an avid reader of Dorothy Sayers mysteries, the Sunday Philosophy Club series by Alexander McCall Smith, and the Diary of a Provincial Lady series by E.M. Delafield. And, of course, I read a whole bunch of other stuff.
Where are my contributions on Wikipedia?
[edit]I have edited a few pages where I came across something that I knew could be added or changed. And I created my first page in 2021.
