Nonproliferation generally refers to prevention or reducing the probability of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) or their components and associated technologies between different countries. Three major categories are nonproliferation of Nuclear (see Nuclear proliferation), Biological, and Chemical weapons of mass destruction. World governments and Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) fund, implement, and coordinate various international nonproliferation activities and programs and monitoring and enforcement of international nonproliferation treaties.
