The Wii (pronounced as the pronoun "we", IPA: [wiː]) is the fifth video game console released by Nintendo, and is the successor to the Nintendo GameCube. It targets a broader demographic than that of other gaming consoles.[1] It competes with both Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3.
Wii features a wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and can detect motion and rotation in three dimensions. It is backwards compatible with the GameCube, and can connect to a wireless network to allow internet browsing, online play, and the purchase of games for previous game consoles via the Virtual Console service.
By 2006-12-08, the console had completed its launch in four key markets, blah, blah, blah, and blah.
