American forces on the Gold Coast during WWII were a common sight on the Gold Coast's coastal strip in Queensland for rest and recuperation from August 1942. They remained until American operations in nearby Brisbane, the state's capitol and headquarters for General MacArthur's South-West Pacific Campaign, wound down in 1945.
