By the very merit of being human, there will be things in this world which we do not fully understand and this will hold true during one's career on Wikipedia as well. On Wikipedia as in life, it is easier to resolve a problem by asking a question than by trial and error. In that spirit, here are some resources for asking for that help.
Asking for Assistance
[edit]Perhaps the most important thing an editor can do when asking for help with an article or an issue is to be concise and specific in your description of the issue. It is very unlikely that an editor will receive any assistance if it is unclear what the issue is in the first place.
Resources for Assistance
[edit]Guild of Copyeditors
[edit]If one requires assistance with an article regarding grammar, diction, syntax, and the such, try contacting the Guild of Copy Editors. The Guild of Copy Editors is a group of editors who engage in coordinated copy editing of articles. If one feels that an article they are working on could benefit from copy editing, add the {{copyedit}} tag to the page in question. This will add the article to the backlog of articles requiring copy editing. Then proceed to the Guild of Copy Editors' request page and follow the instructions there add the article in question to that page for a more prompt response.
Help Desk
[edit]The Wikipedia Help Desk is a resource for answering editors' questions about how to edit Wikipedia. Needless to say this is an excellent resource for the new editor.
Military History Talkpage
[edit]If one has a question pertaining to military science and history or a question about the Military History Project, the Project Talk Page can be a wonderful resource for editors with a quandary. Any editor can hop over to the talk page and add their question to the bottom of discussion list and given some time one of the editors who frequent the page will likely respond.
Reference Desk
[edit]If an editor has a knowledge-type question in need of an answer, they might avail themselves of Wikipedia's Reference desk. Volunteers at the Reference Desk serve as reference librarians who assist editors in finding the answers to knowledge specific questions.
