Process Explorer screenshot
[edit]Is there a reason the image is not a 1:1 bit ratio? I have the same software, and I'd be willing to update the screenshot. Or is there a legal problem here? Also, the value of the Summary item "Low resolution?" should be changed to true until further modification. The image: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Process_Explorer_Screenshot.png Rj.amdphreak (talk) 06:35, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't create the original image. The original image was probably significantly larger than it should of been, as it is non-free media. Wikipedia is using this image under the guidelines set for fair-use. Because it specifies that images be of a low resolution, I just resized this image through paint. So, basically, yes, there is a bit of a legal problem with it being of a larger resolution. As for the 1:1 ratio, when I resized it, it was probably already uneven, and I just decreased by it 60%-70% (I can't imagine it being much larger than that). Does that explain it? Deletion of iJango
[edit]Dear Leonard,
I just noticed that my post for IJango has been removed. I also noticed your comments on my page Luiscolorado.
I would like to request a temporary undeletion of the article, but the procedure says that first I should contact the administrator. I'm not sure how to contact the administrator, so I am writing you first.
Two main reasons were posted for the deletion:
1. Irrelevance of the product. 2. It was being frequently edited by a "new" user and converted in an unacceptable article (blatant publicity).
I am not sure if the first argument - relevance - matters at all. iJango is a scam, and my main purpose was to expose it as such. I considered that this had a double merit: (1) document the existence of this scam, and (2) help people who was not sure if this was a real way to make money, or it was a scam.
About argument 2 -- constant attempts to "fix" the article -- I would say that that is an unfortunate side effect of the open collaboration environment of Wikipedia. Many other articles have been victims of vicious and repeated attacks, vandalism, malicious edits, etc., and that has not been a reason for deletion, but rather for protection.
At this point I am asking for your advice. I would like to have the article temporarily restored and restricted of any changes, to see its history after I created it, and then restore it or enhance it, and have it protected from malicious changes. However, maybe I should just put it in a list of known scams (I have not checked out yet if there is an article like that).
I don't remember creating an article that was deleted before, so I am asking you for your help to figure out the best way to handle this situation.
Thank you for your time, and I am looking forward to receiving your response.
Best wishes,
Luis —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luiscolorado (talk • contribs) 17:41, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- You can contact either User:X!, User:Mikaey, or User:Accounting4Taste, all admins who deleted the page at one time or another. They can recreate the page for you in userspace, which will allow you to fix, expand, or alter the article unmolested by anyone else. Hope this helps, Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 17:52, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
File:4 Seasons of Lonliness (Cover).jpg
[edit]Hello there, you marked File:4 Seasons of Lonliness (Cover).jpg as a duplicate for speedy delete, however this is the one in use. Do you want to switch to the other one, or delete the other one? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:04, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- Because they are both of the same resolution, the decision I made as to which one was going to be marked as a duplicate was based upon which one had the full FUR (they both did) and then the title. The original image used in the article misspelled loneliness. I've added the {{non-free album cover}} to the other image, and changed the image on the article as well. Thanks for notifying me. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 14:34, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]I was changing the picture on my userpage today and decided to scroll down to see how you did the userboxes and must say that I am very appreciative of the notes you left in regards to their creation. :) Warmly, –Katerenka (talk • contribs) 03:17, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Raaaaaaaandy
[edit]Thanks for the Raaaaaaaandy redirect. I admit I want it because I forget how to spell his real name, which is not that hard; but there are plenty of sources on him that show this redirect, and I think it will serve readers who come to wikipedia for popular culture articles. Certainly it will be more convenient for me than having to go to google and type in Raaaaaaaandy, then copy and paste Aziz whatever. Yes, I know his name isn't that hard! --69.225.5.183 (talk) 05:15, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- Wikipedia serves the readers first and foremost. Hopefully there are no hard feelings about the initially declined status; you have to admit, it's a bit of a stretch, but you backed up your claims, so it's all good now. If you need anything else, ask. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 15:48, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, my bad, and after this you still posted the David R. Smith article? Thanks. --69.225.5.183 (talk) 05:47, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (File:AMW Wanted.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:AMW Wanted.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 18:47, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Sunshadow
[edit]Meant to do this earlier in the day, and real life conspired to make me forget. Sorry!
Just a friendly heads up on Sunshadow. I've restored the article per a request at WP:REFUND -- as an expired prod, this is considered an uncontroversial restoration. However, I advised the editor who requested it that notability isn't obvious as it stands, and the article could easily end up at AfD. Proceed as you please. :) --Fabrictramp | talk to me 00:51, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ah. Well, I'm currently busy, but unless it can be dramatically improved upon to meet notability standards, I'll probably take it to AfD. Thanks for notifying me. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 00:53, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit]I'm just responding with regard to my uploading of images which I've been told don't have sufficient copyright information...
If I own the actual Parlotones music albums, and I scan the covers onto my computer, does that effectively give me ownership of the image?
As far as I know (and I've read through the booklet) the copyright on the album only applies to the music and not to the album art...
Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Realkingoftheuniverse (talk • contribs) 11:05, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- No, sorry. That's not exactly how it works. First, buying the album does not mean you hold the copyright. The publisher (or this case label) still holds the copyright to all the materials on the item: music, album art, etc. Second, the booklet may not list the copyright for the album art. It may be on the back somewhere; I'm not sure. But it's copyrighted nonetheless. Sorry. To understand how you can use the image, please look over WP:NFC, the policy on non-free content. RfA
[edit]Hi Leo. A belated Happy Holidays to you. No, I haven't forgotten, but it's just that I couldn't help but notice your recent inactivity during the last few months. I see you've become more active lately but I'm afraid that the few months where you made ~300 edits are going to sink the RfA. IMHO, perhaps actively editing for another month or so would be a good idea (I'll write the nom for you at the end of January then if you choose to do that). If you're ready now, that's fine with me too, but I think it is fair to warn you that there are certain individuals whom I know will question and oppose you just for lack of activity. Let me know what you'd like to do. Regards, FASTILYsock(TALK) 09:27, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hey Fastily. Happy New Years, and hope you had a nice Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Ramadan/Winter solstice/quiet day on the 25th. :) I'm on the fence, as far as another RfA goes. I've found that I'm moving away from areas where I really need the bit. To be honest, I don't think I'd do very well if an RfA went up. If you want to write a nom, I'd have no objection, but as of right now, it's fifty fifty as to whether I take the leap or politely decline. My absence was mostly because of personal issues, and nothing that will be repeated again. Good on you for watching it a bit more, and seeing what happened first. If it were to happen, I'd imagine a few weeks would suffice. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 09:44, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, that would make sense. Well it's good to have you back and active on the project. Sounds like a plan - I'll ping you in a few weeks, and if you're still interested, I'll write you a nom (Personally, I think you have a pretty good chance of passing at the rate you're going - frankly, you've got some pretty good contributions under your belt). Cheers, FASTILY (TALK) 10:54, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Ask
[edit]Hi! I would like to ask something from you. What do you think about this artcile of mine? George Miok. Does it worth the deletion? I think, it's not a memorial. And there is a lot of resources about him. --Eino81 (talk) 23:37, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- I see, you wrote into the article. Now I found three medals of him, i put them into the article, I don't know, why does this article not good for the English Wikipedia. --Eino81 (talk) 00:24, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for that. By the way, who could be "notable". when I write the article, I found some other Canadian soldier, has has smaller article, without resources. The enwiki is the greates Wiki, I don't know, why is this a problem, that he is there. I don't know him personally, unfortunately, but nowadays we are proud of him in Hungary. I wrote the Hungarian article of his, but he lived in Canada, in an English-speaking area, so that's why I wrote the English version, too. But he died only some days ago, there is now a proove to get award or medal for every Canadian soldier who was killed in service. --Eino81 (talk) 01:00, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have no doubt people are proud of him; he gave his life for his country. However, Wikipedia has guidelines as to what constitutes notability and what does not, and in my interpretation of the guidelines, he is not. Nor is he in the eyes of the prod'er. Again, I'm sorry. The article is high quality - just not of a subject that stands as notable. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 01:18, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Island Sports Media deletion?
[edit]I am new to Wikipedia so forgive my ignorance. I don't fully understand why the page was deleted. It says typos or misnomers? Could you please explain to me what I need to do for the listing.
In my first attempt the page was deleted because it sounded like an advertisement, which wasn't my intent but I could see the reasoning. I have utilized this site many times for lists such as this while surfing and/or researching sports topics.
Thanks for your help.

[edit]I can't seem to meet your guideline for putting our company history on WiKi. What's up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Edsull9663 (talk • contribs) 17:51, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- The company does not seem to meet Wikipedia's guidelines for notability. Also, as you seem to be representing the company in some way, the inherent conflict of interest was why the article was initially deleted for being to much of an advertisement. I hope that answers your questions. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 17:56, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
American Pet Association
[edit]I just posted a page about the APA and it was immediately deleted as advertising. It was a factual history about the organization and it's current policies with no opinions stated about the value of its services or other organizations.
I do not understand. Please explain.
Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rwerner43 (talk • contribs) 17:53, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- The article was strongly reminiscent of an advertisement or a promotional piece. While there may have been fact-based information, the tone was inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Neutrality aside, the group also doesn't seem to meet our guidelines on notability. I hope this answers your questions, Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 18:03, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

- You forgot to add the {{reflist}} template, which allows the software to represent the citations as they're written in the article. It's a common mistake. If that doesn't answer your question, WP:REF should answer anything else. Feel to free to leave a message if you have any other questions. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 18:52, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

- The band does not meet the guidelines for inclusion, no matter how good they may be. Sorry, and if you have any other questions, please ask. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 04:15, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Is there anyway to lock that page from being recreated? It seems every other year, someone recreates it and it gets deleted again. Thanks. -- 127.*.*.1 04:17, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]hey, you deleted the page I was making about Ben Moran. He was on a popular Canadian reality show. He has relevance. He just doesn't really know how to use wikipedia very well.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BenjaminJMoran (talk • contribs) 07:00, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but being on a reality TV show alone does not confer notability. Add him, perhaps, to the section dealing with the appropriate season of the T.V. on it's article? Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 07:10, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]I am the worst user kown to mankind. Everyone on here hates me. That's why I created that page. I am sad that no one likes me. As an admin, i know you dont like me. Please put me down like the dog i am. Block me, i'm worthless. Tech43 (talk) 04:56, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
First off, thanks for your kindness that totally caught me off guard. You seem like a good, veteran user and I am happy about your advice. I have had a lot of things going on and overreacted to them. I just wanted to let you know I am going on an indefinite Wiki hiatus, but if and when I come back, I will bwhave a lot better and will contribute positively. Leonard, thanks again for your Good Article review. I have endeavoured to address your comments and concerns regarding the Marston biography----please let me know what you think. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 17:29, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- You finished it up, thanks. The article has been passed, and is now a GA. Congrats, and thanks again, Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 21:04, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Leonard, would you consider doing a GA review of the Albert A. Murphree biography? It's the next in my series of University of Florida president bios . . . you will be passing familiar with the subject matter from your Marston review. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 21:41, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Leonard, You deleted a couple of files I uploaded several weeks ago because I didn't provide a copyright status. I've looked into the matter and I've found that the files haven't been copyrighted. I want to upload them again but I don't know what copyright status to give them. Please would you help me with that? AlecRox (talk) 07:56, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- Quick note for clarification: I only tagged the images for deletion; User:MBisanz deleted them. As for uploading them again, I suggest giving this a quick glance. Basically, you'll need to upload the images with the correct copyright tags. If the image is public domain, then use a PD tag, if it was released under Creative Commons, then a CC tag. Does that help point you in the right direction; if not, please, ask for clarification. Thanks, Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 01:03, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
RE: Justyn Pogue
[edit]I believe that the popularity of The Microphones / Mount Eerie aka Phil Elrum / Elverum warrant the inclusion of those that have worked with him. As I have personal knowledge of these individuals I am just trying to further the information. Pogue contributed to many early releases and supplied art work to a number of K Records releases, as well as to the first Microphones 7" single on the legendary Seattle indie label Up Records. Furthermore, the diaspora of Olympia artists is cause for continued interest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Billowing sheen (talk • contribs) 07:30, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- I tagged the article for deletion in Sept., and it has since been removed. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 07:09, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Image dispute
[edit]Greetings. You have disputed a photograph I uploaded for "Nominjin" home page. I am the owner. If you have any doubts please write to for verficiation. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 444wiki444 (talk • contribs) 03:34, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- Could you please provide all of the information for the image? Thanks for telling me; I'll remove the discussion. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 03:43, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
F8 image?
[edit]You deleted an image because the identical image was on Wikipedia Commons..I uploaded it from an original photograph given to me by the gentleman's grandson and it went to Commons instead of to my draft page..I am very confused. How do I use this image on the WT Small page? I am new to this, very interesting, process. Many thanks, Sarah —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sarahlouisem (talk • contribs) 06:12, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- The image is on Commons, so an identical image isn't necessary on Wikipedia as well. To use the image, just insert it like you would any other image, and it'll work. Does that answer your question? Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 15:40, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
AlecRox again
[edit]Hi Leonard, Please would you delete the file File:Gips2.jpg for me because I've decided that the project it is for is not yet ready for Wikipedia and, furthermore, I got the copyright status wrong so that image shouldn't be on Wikipedia anyway. Sorry about that. If you can't delete it, please would you refer the deletion to someone who can. Thankyou,AlecRox (talk) 22:49, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
