Hello! I do my best, but please let me know if I make a mistake. I am open to trout slapping should it be necessary (see above!)
I'm Rory, better known as LemurLiterature, and I'm a 17-year-old Australian Wikipedia editor. I'm interested in music, history (particularly music history), astronomy, animals, writing, theatre, and comedy, aiming to improve articles in these categories.
Editing habits
[edit]I tend to make copyediting and citation edits, as well as revert vandalism to the best of my ability. I will often patrol Recent Changes, or spend time bringing long-forgotten or orphan articles to as a high a standard as I can. I have a native understanding of English.
I endeavours to be as friendly as possible to everyone who interacts with me, but I have anxiety and autism, and may take a while to answer out of overthinking a response, or I might adopt an odd tone when communicating with you. I apologise profusely for this.
I'm a student and edits in his spare time - although at the moment, I'm spending the time that should be spent studying on Wikipedia. My username is inspired by my first edit - a simple grammatical fix on the page of the black-and-white ruffed lemur.
My wikiphilosophy is being bold, but not harmful. I believe strongly in kindness, and in edit summaries!
Personal life
[edit]I have a Border Collie named Auggie.
I am a fan of several bands, notably Weezer, Joy Division, Blur, Echo and the Bunnymen, Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths (particularly of Johnny Marr's guitar work), and Car Seat Headrest. I have a wide collection of somewhat useless knowledge associated with them, amongst many other bands.
I study music history, journalism, and literature. I write (mostly awful) songs and I illustrate in my spare time, when I'm not listening to or researching music (or editing Wikipedia). I also play electric guitar.
I am fascinated by nuclear pasta and Wes Anderson films.
I'm an advocate for sustainability, particularly in schools and local communities. I also believe strongly in LGBTQ+ rights, especially transgender rights, and I have no respect or tolerance for transphobia of any kind.
Favourite articles
[edit]A few of my favourite and recommended articles to read are the following:
- Weimar culture
- The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
- The Sandman (comic book)
- Nuclear pasta
- The Libertines
- Surrealism
- Voynich manuscript
- Jabberwocky
Articles I've started
[edit]- SPECULOOS-3 - the second ever discovered ultra-cool dwarf star to have a planetary system. Note - I only started the article. I had very little (if any) part in making it as awesome as it has become (and so quickly!)
- Still House Plants - a very cool British art rock band, and also the catalyst for my learning about the guidelines surrounding music notability ;)
