Gut feeling
[edit]Emerging research has shown that there is a connection between the gastrointestinal system and the brain. [1]. This connection is the basis of what is commonly known as gut feelings. These connections function biologically in that they help maintain homeostasis [1] but researchers are now finding that they have important affective functions as well. These functions include decision making, [2] , moderating the feeling of disgust (FIGURE OUT WHICH OLD REFERENCE GOES HERE), and eating disorders [1] .
