Yagba language is a distinct Yoruboid language spoken by the Yagba people of North Central Nigeria. Although largely considered by many as a subgroup of the Yoruba language, the Yagba language until recently has been an independent language with its speakers reportedly denying speaking the Yoruba language. As a Yoruboid language, the language shares many cognates with other Yoruboid languages like Yoruba, Itsekiri, and Igala; and with other Niger-Congo languages like Nupe, Bassa-Nge, and Ebira.
