Now in its 10th year (2010), the Festival of World Cultures - Ireland’s largest intercultural celebration – brings a world of culture and entertainment to Dún Laoghaire (Dublin) and provides a summer balm for the soul with a planet-popping, family-friendly, global carnival of music, arts, crafts, food and culture. Offering a passport to a world of culture, the Festival of World Cultures offers the chance to travel the world without ever leaving the shores of Dún Laoghaire and with over 90% of the events free of charge, the Festival is one of the top value-for-money events on the summer events calendar. The success of the Festival continues to grow every year. In 2009, Irish based and internationally acclaimed artists from over 50 countries entertained audiences in the region of 200,000 throughout Dun Laoghaire town. A wonderfully positive celebration of the town and all that it has to offer. The Festival, after only 6 years, had become the country’s largest outdoor three-day event. It has developed a large national and international profile and is now one of the most exciting and innovative festivals in Ireland. With over 70% of the programme free to the public, and events reaching all ages and encompassing all interests, the festival continually strives to reflect cultural diversity within Ireland. This year, the festival dates are 23rd - 25th July.
