Gownipalli (Telugu: గౌనిపల్లి) is a small village in Southern Andhrapradesh State of India.It is located in Obuladevaracheruvu mandal of Anantapur district. Gownipalli is considered to be major hub for the surrounding villages to access basic transport facilities and shopping needs. Being located on Kadiri-Hindupur highway easily accessible to any place in southern Andhrapradesh and major parts of Karnataka (Especially Bangalore(147 KMS) - available 24/7 transport facility). Gownipalli is well equipped with the basic amenities like Higher secondary school, Post office, Telephone exchange, Shopping Malls, Hospitals, Veterinary Camp etc., Gownipalli is well known for its local event "Akkamma Jatara" held during "Karthika" month of telugu calendar.

Gowniaplli is located at 13.98°N,77.92°E. It has an average elevation of 398 meters.

Demographics

As of 2010 Census, Gownipalli has a population of 2062 (61% Male, 39% Female). Literacy rate is around 58%.Telugu and Kannada are the predominant languages of the village.

Climate and Agriculture

Gownipalli has a semi-arid climate, with hot and dry conditions for most of the year.Summers start from late February and lasts till August with peak temperatures noted in the month of May. Gownipalli is one of the many villages in Anantapur which receives lowest annual rainfall. Gownipalli does get pre-monsoon drizzles in the month of April when south west monsoon winds blows from state of Kerala and monsoon rains will starts from July and lasts till October.It witnesses mild winters during the period of November to Early February.Average annual temperatures recorded in the range of 22°C to 38°C.

Being rain dependent agriculture the major crops grown here are dry crops like groundnut,Maize, Jowar, Sunflower etc., The major occupation of village is agriculture.
