Arborisphere DL-47 Environment

Arborisphere DL 47 is a small planet in the Pinwheel Galaxy. Half of the planet is covered with three types of forest:

Temperate Rainforest

Dominant plant species are conifers (firs, spruces, hemlocks and red cedars), deciduous trees (maples, poplars and oaks) and many mosses, lichens and ferns. There are many large and small mammals that make this rainforest their home as well as many reptiles, insects and very large slugs. This rainforest gets at least 120” of precipitation per year but does have a dry season. Similar to the Hoh Rainforest on the Olympic Penninsula of Washington.

Temperate Deciduous Forest

This is a deciduous temperate forest consisting mostly of maple and oak trees that lose their leaves in the fall and regrow them in the spring. This forest is home to many large mammals such as moose, bear, elk, and deer. There are many small mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and insects. This is the type of forest that is common in New England and the mid-Atlantic region (Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland) of the United States.

Tropical Rainforest

There is no dry season in a tropical rainforest. It is always hot and wet (up to more than 300” of rain per year). There are many trees and flowering plants in this type of rainforest but most do not lose their leaves (they are evergreen). The area is lush and supports many animals and insects. Similar to the tropical rainforests near the equator in South and Central America.

The other half of the planet is covered with ocean, rivers, lakes, and volcanoes with glaciers. There are many species of plants and animals that live in harmony with one another and the environment.

Ecosystem and Climate

Over time, on the Earth, all types of forests undergo habitat destruction and deforestation. Trees are removed to use the wood for building and for urban growth. Forests are destroyed to make room for more farms to feed more people. Native plants and animals including humans lose their habitat. Temperate forests, temperate rainforests, and tropical rainforests are interesting environments because they are similar but also very different. All of them have a lot of trees, plants, ferns, mosses, and fungi but they are different species in the different forests. The climates of the three forests are very different. There are different amounts of rainfall and temperatures for the three forests as well.

Adaptation of the Organisms on Arborisphere DL-47

Leafy and Petal are the heroes of the game. They must collect and protect the daisies in order to save the trees. Leafy and Petal are humanoid beings. Their ancestors were human but they went extinct from the destruction of the Earth. The main adaptations of the organisms to their environment are that they are small and nimble and adapted to live and thrive in the forests. Their Earthling ancestors were no longer accustomed to living in nature. They were too dependent on computers and technology and forgot how to live in harmony with nature. They overused the natural resources and polluted their planet until it was no longer habitable.

Overuse of the land and natural resources made the Earth uninhabitable and the organisms that now inhabit Arborisphere DL 47 will not let that happen again. Pollution and habitat destruction led to starvation and death. The organisms on Arborisphere DL 47 are peaceful and friendly. However, if someone or something threatens them or their home they increase in size and strength to become a formidable foe. They will protect their organisms and lands at any cost.

Game Overview

Alien invaders have attacked Arborisphere DL47 in order to collect all the different species of daisies. The people of Arborishere DL 47 must collect and save all the daisies before the aliens get them. It is a two-person game. The main characters are Leafy and Petal. Leafy is sent out to collect as many white, yellow and orange daisies while petal must collect all the blue, pink and red daisies. If the aliens collect a daisy, a tree in the forest will disappear. They must stop the aliens from collecting daisies. They can get help from the other people and animals living on Arborisphere DL47.
