Hello. I work as a psychologist for a state psychiatric hospital. My specialty is addictive diseases; however, I treat nearly all kinds of mental illnesses, from clinical depression, to personality disorders, to psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia.
I have a masters degree in Applied General Psychology, from the University of North Florida. My masters thesis was in the area of cognitive neuroscience, and examined the effects of certain cognitive stressors on a Visio-spatial memory and mental rotation task. I am also a Ph.D. candidate in psychology, in the area of General Psychology, Research and Evaluation. This is a non-clinical track designed to prepare me to conduct research and teach Psychology at the university level.
At the hospital where I work, I am an acknowledged expert in the area of psychoeducation. I teach patients and staff in everything from substance abuse and addiction, to form and function of the brain, to coping strategies for anxiety, stress, and depression.
Currently, I am the principle investigator for a major study at my work, which examines the effectiveness of an evidence-based treatment planning process, which I helped create.
