Greetings! I am a multidisciplinary researcher, writer, and editor. I expand, edit, and create Wikipedia pages related to the following topics: penology, subcultures, custom cars, journalistic writing, history, Washington State, botany, ecology, scientist biographies, conservation, and horticulture. I also try to help improve the encyclopedic tone and style of stubs and articles on topics related to blue collar trades, hobbies, and subcultures to ensure that the valuable applied knowledge contributed by Wikipedia editors with lived experience in these areas is not rejected or underappreciated when the early versions of an article do not yet meet the requirements of an encyclopedic writing style with formal citations. This teaches me a great deal of practical knowledge, since I am frequently on a scavenger hunt for rigorous sources that corroborate statements written by those with lived experience.
I studied Pacific NorthwestCastilleja species and Plantago lanceolata in graduate school, and I have also ended up doing a lot of work in penological and public policy research. I contribute to Wikipedia because I love the spirit of open access to information. It is also a good way to trick myself into learning some basic coding and markup techniques.
