Joan Jett
[edit]Joan Jett, or Joan Marie Larkin was born on September 22, 1958 in Pennsylvania. She was born in Wynnewood, PA at Lankenau Medical Center to her parents, James Larkin and Dorothy Larkin. With 17 studio albums (as of 2022), Jett has created some of the greatest rock and roll hits of all time, including covers like I Love Rock 'N Roll, Bad Reputation, Cherry Bomb, Crimson & Clover & more.
[edit]Jett's past groups
[edit]In 1975, Jett formed a band named The Runaways. The Runaways were a hard rock band from the mid '70's to early 1980's. They made incredible hits such as Cherry Bomb, I Love Playin' With Fire, Queens Of Noise, and more. Although, the band only stayed together for a few years, and the members slowly grew apart from each other. Lead singer, Cherie Currie had became a drug addict and had left the band along with Jackie Fox. By 1977, The Runaways were officially disbanded. After The Runaways broke up, Jett had started a band called Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. As of 2022, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts are still together.
[edit]Joan's disapproval and details on Blackheart Records
[edit]When Jett was trying to make her first record, "I Love Rock 'N Roll", Jett was disapproved by over 23 record labels because she was "strange". While super angry from many disapproval's from multiple labels, Jett decided to start her own label, "Blackheart Records", with long time producer, Kenny Laguna. She sold her records and albums at shows and gigs. And in 1981, I Love Rock 'N Roll was #1 on Hot 100. When I Love Rock 'N Roll was at the top, all of the labels that had already disapproved her suddenly wanted Jett back and was eventually signed under behalf of Sony Records America.
