The Singapore Government Railway was the predecessor to Keretapi Tanah Melayu's Singapore mainline branch. It started in 1903 from the Tank Road railway station and terminated at Woodlands via Kranji earning its alternate name; the Singapore—Kranji Railways. A railway limited to only Brtish conlonial Singapore for only twenty years before merging with the then new Federated Malay States Railways, it became the FMSR (later Malayan Railways and KTM's) Singapore branch of its mainline in 1923 after the Causeway was completed to the present times of modern, independent Singapore.
