Pamla Motown designed the clothes for the boutique Mr Freedom which opened in London in 1969. The boutique was named after the movie by the same name directed by William Klein.
She designed bright colored velvet shorts, rainbow striped knits and pop art T-Shirts and became popular with the press. While working at Mr. Freedom Pamla met and collaborated with Jim O'Connor. In 1971 Pamla designed clothes for mass production as well as custom clothes for Andy MacKay of Roxy Music and other private clients. She moved to New York in 1974.
In New York Pamla continued working with Jim O'Connor designing a range of hand knit sweaters and custom clothes for Bloomingdales In 1976 she and Jim designed a line of punk T-Shirts which appeared in Macy's 34th Street windows in 1976.
In 1978 Pamla moved to Los Angeles and opened a retail store Poseur at 7154 Sunset Blvd. Poseur moved to 7415 Melrose Avenue in 1980 becoming one of the first stores to bring notoriety to that street.
Pamla left the business in 1984 and opened a nightclub The Crush Bar with Deejays playing 60s soul dance music at The Continental Club on Cahuenga Blvd. In Hollywood.
