Kotenayakanahalli is a village under Tiptur Taluk in Karnataka and the sub-divisional headquarters of Tumkur district in Karnataka.
Kotenayakanahalli Village is famous for its Banashankari temple.
Tiptur is the most developed taluk in Tumkur district[citation needed].
Etymology
[edit]Kotenayakanahalli is said to have got its name from "kotenayaka", Banashankari devi was the main attraction in this village, the word for "copra" in the local language, Kannada. The name was probably derived from the industry which produces dried coconut in the areas surrounding the city.

[edit]Kotenayakanahalli is located approximately 67 km (42 mi) west of Tumkur along National Highway 206 (now renumbered as National Highway 48). It is at a distance of 141 km (88 mi) northwest[citation needed] from the state capital, Bangalore. It lies on the Bangalore-Miraj railway line.
